Omgili

Basics of Search

Searching Omgili for online discussions and debates is easy. Simply type the words that best describe the information you want to find into the search box and hit the 'Enter' key or click on the Omgili Search button.

Omgili then produces a results page with a list of relevant discussions and debates from forums across the web.

Choosing search terms

You are searching content that was created by other users. Discussions on boards and forums take on the characteristics of a regular conversation. Therefor, you are most likely to find exactly what you're looking for if you search for the phrase you think was most likely to be used in the description of the experience. For example:

  1. If you have a problem with a nokia 6288 mobile phone and are looking for a solution, search for " I have a problem with nokia 6288". The results will be discussions in which people talk about problems and solutions to problems with this model of phone.

  2. If you're looking for the best way to lose weight quickly you can search for "I lost 5 pounds in a week". The results to this query will be discussions in which people describe how they lost weight quickly.

More Search Options

Since Omgili is dedicated to forums and online discussions, it can recognize the structure of a discussion and offer you the power to search for terms in either the title, topic (subject) or replies of the discussion. This option is very powerful and makes it much easier to find the information you need.
The keyword for searching for a term in the title, topic, reply fields are intitle:,intopic:,inreply: respectively. For example, searching for "intitle:remove intitle:spyware intopic:popup" will search for discussions where the terms "remove, spyware" are in the title of the discussion and the term "popup" is in the topic itself.

Omgili makes it easy to use this feature by offering to shortcuts:

•  Select or double click on a term will pop a small rectangular icon, moving the mouse over the icon brings up the shortcut menu. Select one of the options and Omgili will add the appropriate keyword near your search term.

• Use the "Advanced Search" screen and type your search terms in the appropriate text boxes.

Exclusion of common words

Omgili ignores common words and characters such as "the" and "there", as well as certain single digits and single letters, because they tend to slow down your search without improving the results. Omgili will indicate if a common word has been excluded by displaying details on the results page below the search box.

Capitalization

Omgili searches are NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for online games, Online Games, and OnLiNe GaMeS will all return the same results.

Exact Phrase searches

If you want results that include an exact phrase, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. For example "File Sharing".

Automatic "and" queries

By default, Omgili only returns pages that include all of your search terms. There is no need to include "and" between terms.
