Airline Food
— If you have reason to find yourself in one of the urban centers of Pakistan, you will still be able to satisfy your Donut fix. Islamabad has 3 (3!) branches of the chain, and they serve up a very authentic tasting rendition of the Dunkin Donuts chocolate covered chocolate donut, a personal favorite. They also serve chai.
I did not choose to get a donut at the DDs in the Karachi airport as I was not hungry. I truly, truly regret this decision, because I got hungry at 30,000 feet above sea level a...

Pizza in other countries..suggestions?
— I was in Amsterdam and trying to conserve cash, so I ended up at the market buying cheese, bread and lunch meats. The guy staying across from me at the B&B was from Australia and worked for a pizza place back home and pretty much ate pizza everyday while he was in Amsterdam.
I was deathly afraid because I heard there are peas and things on them in Amsterdam, London, etc.
Anyone have good pizza recommendations in Europe? Being from Chicago, I'm used to great pizza (thin crust). If we bring our ba...

Sincere Converts Must be Welcomed by Jewish Community
— BS"D I have personal knowledge of sincere people undergoing conversion who have been treated in an appalling manner. They have been publicly embarrassed, ridiculed, slandered and bullied and still persist (for which they deserve admiration). Though the adults have the tenacity to weather this barrage of abuse, their children aren't so fortunate - they are utterly devastated by it.
This is a deplorable Chillul Hashem.
People don't seem to know the basic fact that one of the reasons behind the Scr...

French paradox redux? US vs. French on being full
It's the French paradox redux: Why don't the French get as fat as
Americans, considering all the baguettes, wine, cheese, pate and
pastries they eat?
Because they use internal cues -- such as no longer feeling hungry --
to stop eating, reports a new Cornell study. Americans, on the other
hand, tend to use external cues -- such as whether their plate is
clean, th...

Halal in USA
— Assalam-o-Alaikum,
Being a Muslim in the US, I have to be vigilant about the Halal status of products that I need to buy. Halal is usually only associated to edible stuff. Lots of Muslims do not know about Halal status of personal care products such as toothpaste, shampoo, lotions etc.
The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) has taken a great step forward in spreading awareness about what is Halal and Haram and most importantly why.
Their website http://www.ifanca.or g is a kno...

Cuisine WI scenarios
— Could anybody think of any WI scenarios re how recipes would've developed, had certain foodstuffs not been accepted and adopted into the national cuisines of particular countries ? Say, if Italy hadn't been exposed to Chinese noodles in order to influence the development of pasta in all its varieties (spaghetti, ravioli, tortellini, etc) ? Or if the Irish hadn't adopted the potato as their national staple after it was introduced from South America ?

Venting!
— So I got 'promoted' a few weeks ago.. and I'm on the verge of a breakdown.
The work is FAR easier than what I used to do
but my 'supervisor' is CRAZY!!!
She has OCD with Anxiety (and I'm not kidding)
This last 3.5 days have been horrid

She repeats herself 6 times an hour (I've counted). Rambles non-stop. Perfectionist in an unorganized and random way.
She thinks I'm 3

. OFCOURSE it's a good bloody job, coz you've been bugging me a...
