Mayonnaise

How often do you make your own Mayonnaise?
I find whenever I am making a salad like potato or macaroni that requires a
cup or more of mayo it's just as easy to whip up a batch in the food
processor.
It has gotten to the point I can hear the difference in sound as the mixture
begins to solidify.
I leave the best foods for sandwiches.

Finally got to BlackSalt last night for dinner (9 pm res) and had an enjoyable meal. The restaurant was bustling when we arrived and we started with a nice glass of wine at the bar while our table was being prepared. We decided to order 2 small plates and 2 apps while we decided what to have for our main course. We asked our waiter if this would be a problem, and he said it was fine and that the 2 small plates would arrive first and then the apps. Well the apps came out...

COINTEST... Holiday Recipes 2008
— I don't visit the forums very often but the holidays are near and I'd like to have a cointest to get the spirit in gear.
To me the holidays revolve around food, and what a better subject to have a cointest.
I know there was a similar cointest last year, so this will be quite similar.
Simple rules...
Post any holiday recipe you like, and on Jan. 1, I will draw a random winner for a coin.
But face it... with all the good recipes, everyone will benefit.

So, Brits, if someone from the US asks you what HP brown sauce tastes
like, tell them it's a slightly sweeter version of A-1.
It's good, but I haven't had a steak in years, and can't imagine what

caesar salad with garlic croutons and parmigiano-reggiano
pan-seared salmon with mashed new potatoes, asapargus and chardonnay-spring herb sauce
(carmelized onion risotto for the vegetarians)
mocha-chocolate wedding cake
The verdict's still out on the hors d'oeuvres, but I'm consdering cheese/fruit/bread/c racker platters, prawns with cocktail sauce, antipasto platter, and a gruyere/emmental cheese fondue (because I'm a weirdo).
How about everyone else?

— It appears that we're in the minority, but we had a very nice Thanksgiving this year. We made our pies Wednesday night. Thursday morning DMIL and DFIL drove up and shared biscuits and gravy with us for breakfast. Then DH started the homemade rolls. Mid-morning we stuffed the (brined) turkey and got it in the oven. An Outrayjust Journal!
— This is day 1 for me. And while I doubt I've lost a nano-ounce, I have to say I feel different.
I purchased the book months ago and left it sitting under a pile of papers on m desk at work. I was very intrigued by a blurb somewhere and Amazoned it on impulse. But I was a bit weirded out by the concept, so I kept conveniently forgetting to take the thing home. But I took a 4 day "staycation", and needed something for my ritual bathtub reading....and remembered the book.
