SaabCentral Forums - Looking for parts car/rolling chassis
Me and a friend are looking to buy a parts car anywhere from $0-$300.
We live in the St.
Louis area, and we can arrange to get the car from a state or two away, but no more than that.
Just not worth it.
also, I am looking for a pristine chassis to start building the ultimate SPG with.
If you think you've got what I'm looking for, PM me.

It would be difficult to get for zero dollars, scrapyard will give you anything from 200 to 400+ because of scrap value (approx 400-500$ melted down)

well, one of the big things that Rick needs is all four doors.
I'm presuming he's already checked all the saabs in the yards around here since i know he's been to the junkyard a lot.
this is more just a classified that will hopefully get seen more than the classified page

I'll sell you my chassis for $150 - '83 900 hatch.
I need the front suspension, steering, and electrical system so it wouldn't really be a complete roller - just a bare shell.
No door drop and very little surface rust.
It's in my garage taking up too much space.
I can get this much (or more) for it as scrap metal, but I would rather see it get used for something cool.
I'm in Cincinnati OH which is at the edge of your 2 state radius, but let me know if you're interested.
PM me for more info...

I do, but I'm using the drive-train.
I'm building a knock-off Ariel Atom and using the Saab as the donor.

What is an ariel atom?

wow!
I'd taken a quick look at their website you posted it, but watching a bunch of videos on youtube about that thing is IMPRESSIVE.
you have a project thread going for it yet?

For a while now I've wanted to take something like your standard old gm $400 piece of crap and strip it down to nothing but a frame, seats, lights, and engine.
As in no roof no walls nothing but what it needs to be legal.
I would have an awsome party car I wouldn't do this to a saab because Dr.
Sawzaw is a butcher!

would a car hold up with just the under carriage?
I thought that's why convertibles are typically heavier than their coupe counterparts - cause they had to reinforce the frame???

It would hold together in once piece, but would drive down a bumpy road like a fish on the floor of the boat

Sounds like great fun!
I trust we'll see pictures posted up when this is complete?

I don't have a project thread yet because not much is actually being done right now.
I'm a high school teacher and college student and both start back next week.
I will be getting a project thread w/ pics once things start to move along.
I am giving myself two years for the build, and I have capped the budget at 2K so that the car will be eligible for the grassroots motorsports challenge.
On a side note - I need late C900 front brakes and spindles cheap if anyone has some...
