Chevy Volt revealed. - NFSCars Forums

This thing, looks pretty fucking awesome! http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...evealed-69246/

WOW! Now this is sexy;

Unlike that Prius piece of crap.

QFT! The Prius looks like some loser mobile.

Hey, thats one nice design!

Wow. Nice job GM..but still..fcuk you. But one beautiful interior. I'm actually kind of speechless.

It looks like a nicely designed car.

The interior reminds me of a Mac PC, especially the center console.

One of the questions that comes to my mind - are these pictures of a concept or production model? Now some comments about the purpose of the vehicle which is suppose to be fuel economy.

If GM really cared about fuel economy, they would never put what appear to be at the very least 17" wheels on that car.

Another thing which makes this car less appealing to me is the actual fuel economy.

One day me and my boss were reading the specs on the car and calculated the actual fuel economy that GM claims it will get and the numbers didn't impress us at all.

It can be compared to any compact in production right now.

For what it will cost to own one, is it really worth it aside the bragging rights that come with it? GM had a right idea back in the 90's with the EV1.

All they had to do is come up with more advanced battery technology.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Otherwise, I'd rather drive a Prius than this thing.

Yes, I disagree with all of you, I think this looks moderately horrible.

Sawy. -theo

Back of the car looks like a damn Decepticon.

The rear end is still somewhat reminiscent of the Prius, imo. Still, would rather give this a chance.

I think it looks much better than the prius.

Infact, its even better than the new honda insight

Fuel economy? It runs 40 miles on electricity (which 78% of people do while commuting) and if you need to go further the range extender kicks in to which gets about 100-150 mpg.

The preliminary tests done by the EPA brought up 50 mpg, but they weren't using the battery packs.

The Volt should end up costing in the mid to low 30s and cost about 1-2 cents per mile to drive compared to the 8-10 cents per mile a Prius costs to drive.

Doesn't look as good as the concept though (which was more modern Camaro-like).

It looks like a GM Concept version of the Prius to me.... Gave the Prius some striaghter lines and some LEDs, and changed the badges. (I know...

It's not a Prius...

Just looks like one.)

Still, when it comes to green cars.... sex

Quote: : Still, when it comes to green cars.... sex Not a big fan of BMW, but at least they seem to be the only company that knows that you dont need a fag to design a Hybrid.

It looks like a Civic with a Chevy badge, I liked the concept better.

Front half looks good, rear half is fail, interiors are good, would take this over the prius anytime

Interesting design, definitely not something I really like, but I would take this over a Pruis any day. Quote: : Still, when it comes to green cars.... sex Hydrogen internal combustion FTW.

Its like a modded Aveo...

It looks better than the original concept:

Quote: : Not a big fan of BMW, but at least they seem to be the only company that knows that you dont need a fag to design a Hybrid.

BMW doesn't have a hybrid, especially not a series hybrid.

The Volt has the best drag coefficient on the market.

Quote: : Hydrogen internal combustion FTW.

This can have hydrogen, the Chinese version will most likely be in hydrogen.

Quote: : Doesn't look as good as the concept though (which was more modern Camaro-like).

Funny thing about it was that the concept ran better in the wind tunnel in reverse than it did in the right direction lol

It looks like a prius had sex with an astek..

Bleh

Hm. It does remind me of the prius, but it looks much better.

It certainly looks a lot better then the new Civic and a lot better than this new...

Insight ...whatever POS.

I know, its not the appealing sporty looks, but it's a decent family car design. And it certainly looks better than that piece of junk, so called "concept". Even Italians can't match the modern American car design.

Seriously.

Well that explains why it didnt look like it's supposed to appeal to younger metrosexuals. I dont care how good it's drag coefficient is.

With a top speed of, what?

85? Aerodynamics really wont be a very big issue.

Aerodynamics is most certainly an issue.

There are flaps at strategic places on the car that open and close depending on how important wind resistance or if cooling is required.

The previous design of the Volt would require 15% more energy to carry the vehicle 40 miles than this one with a low dc, the Prius would require about 4-5% more energy.

Aerodynamics and weight reduction is incredibly important in hybrids.

Sounds like the money youd spend on the car would cover the cost of what gas would run you if you would have just bought an ordinary vehicle....

Quote: : This thing, looks pretty fucking awesome! http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...evealed-69246/ It looks like a Prius just had buttsechs with a Cobalt and this happened. And I wonder if GM's been reading the automotive section lately, the ones saying that hybrids are a dying breed. The interior's okay though if you ask me.

Too much Star-Wars-Kamino or w/e going on but it looks better than Star Wars IMO.

Bob Lutz said that you could plug this into the cigarette lighter of your hummer to charge it! http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/...videoId=185021 and the more I look at the the more the design grows on me.

But 30k? I can get a Mustang GT for around 25-26K. idk, if corporations really cared about the health of the consumer or the dependence on oil, then we would see healthier foods be much less than a meal at McDonalds and easier to access too while more fuel efficient cars would be better designed and less expensive.

Yet the features from within the car you can't get on any other...

Touch sensitive buttons, skinned and customizable door inserts, LED lights, sync features to sync music and other information from your home computer, fully customizable digital HUD, the only car to offer you such an extensive 10 year warranty,... Interior Digital HUD To drive 15,000 miles the Volt costs $73.

The Prius costs about $1350 with our current gas prices.

Quote: : And I wonder if GM's been reading the automotive section lately, the ones saying that hybrids are a dying breed.

No company even offers a serial hybrid.

GM will be the first to market by 2-3 years.

By then Ford, Nissan or Mercedes might have one.

Toyota still has announced it is working on one.

Okay, I see your point on the hybrid thing... But why should I, a classic-type enthusiast, give a flying fuck about the features?

If it looks nice, is inexpensive, goes quick, and doesn't waste, what else do I need?

Especially if it has four seats.

Quote: : Okay, I see your point on the hybrid thing... But why should I, a classic-type enthusiast, give a flying fuck about the features?

The rest of the world doesn't center around your preferences.

Deal with it.

But it looks tacky.

I'm not paying for a car to have a damned MacBook in the middle!

I think that's hardly a personal preference.

On the other hand, a Mac fanboi may enjoy such a thing.

-_- I don't want a MacBook in the central console but a Mac fanboi might. doz tht halp

When it comes right dowen to it, a vehicle is designed for one purpose.

To give you transportation. There are alot of customers that dont want all that extra crap.

Chances are, if they're looking for a car with great mileage, its because they're looking for cheap and economic.

Meaning they mostly want something simple and cost under 20 grand. thats why the Aveos do so well. I dont care what it costs you in the long run....

It's easier on your wallet to by a cheaper car and put alil more gas in it. Not everyone with economy on their mind would step up and spend 30 grand right off the bat, and be 7 years in debt with 400+ monthly payments....

Thats alot of money they are spending a month, unless they buy it straight up, which doesnt sound smart for someone with savings on the brain. See where Im getting at? because of monthly payments, the cost makes up the difference (and sometimes more) of the cost of gas. and the handful of people who can afford to buy these cars wont make such an amazing impact on the Earth as everyone hopes for.

So "going green" is just a way of making themselves feel better about themselfs. I say, kill more cows.

Become fatter. Protect the ozone.

I don't like the back (specially lookin from the side).

Looks like someone cutted the trunk

Quote: : -_- I don't want a MacBook in the central console but a Mac fanboi might. doz tht halp Well rip it off then and replace it with a cheaper, yet more powerful dell.

The car looks fantastic.

The only problem I have with it is the rear...needs to be resculpted to have less of the black (not sure if it's black).
