Article on Hawes. - KingsFans Forums

July 11, 2008 Spencer Hawes, this is your future calling The reason for Brad Miller's five-game suspension will undoubtedly drift into a forever mystery.

That's the secrecy of the anti-drug policy.

The team is not informed what caused the discipline, the few people who do know have historically kept the silence like no other silence is kept in this loose-lips league, and Miller can disclose or not disclose without worry of the truth coming out...

Brad being out makes Spencer the starter for 5 games, but also gives more mintues to Thompson too! Of course Reggie could **** it up again give more minutes to Mikki Moore.

Hawes does not automatically start.

Salmons or Garcia or Thompson or even Ewing could start at the 3 and move Ron Artest to the 4.

Ewing can start at the 3?

Yeah ok, he'll have to actually make the team first. Hawes does automatically start, if not then we shouldn't of drafted him.

Http://www.nba.com/kings/news/kings_...ary_ewing.html That being said, Hawes should start imo.

Well, we'll see if that is even an option come the start of the season.

Ewing start over Hawes!?

Wow.

Thompson is not a three.

He played center at Rider.

His game lends itself to being a PF in the NBA, but someone that could fill in at the center position if needed. Either Salmons or Garcia will start at the three if Artest isn't here at that time.

Otherwise Artest will start at the three

Ewing start over Hawes!?

Wow. Did I miss something.

Ewing start over Hawes???

Ewing will be kissing the ground and his lucky stars if he just makes the team.

Ewing didn't even start on his college team.

Ewing is not a center.

Ewing is not a power forward.

Man, Brad must be passing whatever he's smoking, around the fourm.

Just to clarify, here's who we drafted: NOT: Signing a contract doesn't necessarily mean you make the team.

In any case, it'll be Hawes' minutes to lose.

What's this about Ewing hoping to make the team?

If I heard correctly Singletary and Ewing were BOTH signed to contracts this last week, meaning all 3 draft picks would be retained.

That was reported on KHTK

That was reported on KHTK 2nd round picks are often signed to non-guaranteed contracts meaning they get paid for camp but may not, in fact, actually make the team.

As long as they work hard on the training camp im pretty sure they will get into the team...

They need to show GREAT performances not decent ones..

Mustafa shakur put up a decent performance but wasnt enough... i wouldnt say the playing time for the 5 in the first 5 games is a lock on hawes...

I sure hope he works hard to EARN IT rather than just be comfortable knowing hes the only best available center around at the time, knowing what ive learned and read from hawes hes going to work hard for it sure am excited on the summer league question is what if we like some one that wasnt signed?

Like another guy performed good who do we cut?

Sure hope we buy out KT

Are you saying Moore would start at C?

It took me a bit of time to understand what you were saying...

First off, lets take Ewing out of the mix.

He's not even going to be on the active roster if he makes the team (and it's a big IF)..

The options are starting Moore at 5, Thompson at 4, or Hawes at 5 and Moore at 4.

I would rather go with the second choice.

Artest will probably get time at 4, but don't count on Theus starting him there.

It was like when Bowen was trying to guard Wells in the playoffs a couple years back.

Artest will lose a lot of his defensive effectiveness playing full time 4.

He's just not big enough.

Height wise he isn't even as tall as Martin at 6'7.
