2008 Beijing Olympic Games Day 15 (23/08/2008) - FSUniverse
Did not see a thread so thought I would do the honors.
As far as I can tell all competition will be held later on in the day, so I doubt I missed anything much.
The CBC is now showing the 10m platform semis.
I am gonna miss diving once the olys is over.

First of the gold medals in boxing will be handed out today at long last, and there are 4 Cubans, 3 Chinese, 2 Russians vying for those medals.
A number of other countries has one fighter each but the US and Canada has no one in the finals, which is disappointing.

Less than an hour to go before the last of the Canoe/Kayak finals and Adam Van Koeverden's last chance at gold in these games.
There are 2 other entries from Canada in these finals, and they are in the 500mdouble K2, and the 500m double C2.

Women's mountain bike ran this morning and Sabine Spitz of Germany won gold, Poland got silver and Russia the bronze.
Congratulations to them all.
The men's competition is on now.

I am starting to get excited for the men´s javelin throw.
So much expectations for the two Teros of Finland here, that if one of them does not win, it is a national catastrophe.

Sarah Stevenson of Great Britain has just been ROBBED in her Quarterfinal against chinese taekwondo Chen Zhong of China
She clearly punched the chinese with a kick on the head of the chinese, which would meant 2 points and the victory
But no...
The judges were the only ones who didn´t see that kick!
Even the chinese crowd clapped but not that convinced of what they saw
Now Mexico´s Maria Espinoza knows that she will have to KILL the chinese in the semifinal, period!

Russia, Spain, Ukraine.

The way David Cal looked in the heats of his events I thought he would be double gold here and instead he has to settle for being the bridesmaid twice in a row.
Good to see Opalev finally get his elusive Olympic Gold though.

Maybe not the gold they were expecting from David Cal, who gets two silvers with the one he won today

And after Cal´s two silvers (gold was expected in C1 1000 not so much in 500), surprising gold for Spain in K2 500m after so much silver it was a nice colour change
ETA: Thanks Braulio , that was really unexpected.
It was commented they had a chance to podium, but looking how strong they started I thought they wouldn´t be able to keep the rhythm in the last meters, but even if the German Team was very close, in the end they kept the first place
