NFL Forum :: - Jlittle 2009 Mock Draft Version 1.0 (updated Sep. 27)
2009 NFL MOCK DRAFT Version 1.0
Round 1
1.) St.
Louis Rams Michael Oher The Rams need to replace Orlando Pace and do so with the best lineman in the draft.
2.) Kansas City Chiefs Sam Bradford A lot of people have Stafford going first, but he hasnt shown anything but a strong arm so far.
If Bradford keeps playing the way he does he will declare and be the first QB taken.
The Chiefs need a true QB, Croyle or Thigpen are not the answer.
3.) Detroit Lions Eugene Monroe The lions new GM puts his mark on the Lions with a franchise LT.
The Lions defense is horrible, but Backus is not the answer and LT is one of the most important positions on a football team.
4.) Cincinnati Andre Smith With Bengal fans request, they improve the o-line.
5.) Oakland Raiders Michael Crabtree I can see Crabtree having another great season but what makes him a top ten pick will be his combine.
Plus Al Davis loves the sexy pick and its not like the raiders have great WR.
6.) Houston Texans William Moore The Texans have a greater need at S than RB so they take the best safety available.
7.) Miami Dolphins George Selvie Selvie is one of the best defensive prospects because he is unstoppable.
People say he will play in a 3-4 so Miami is a perfect fit.
They need to replace Jason Taylor.
8.) Atlanta Falcons Taylor Mays The Falcons have a need at OT and S.
With Smith off the board they take Mays.
9.) Cleveland Browns Malcolm Jenkins The Browns lack a true shutdown corner so they take the best CB available.
10.) New York Jets Knowshon Moreno - The Jets take a great back to form a 2 back system with TJ.
They were eying McFadden last year.
11.) San Fransico 49ers Michael Johnson The 49ers need someone who can get to the QB.
If Derrick Harvey can go in the top ten than Michael Johnson can go 12.
They dont need a QB because Martz makes his QBs lights out.
12.) Chicago Bears Matthew Stafford I dont believe that Kyle Orton is the answer and Stafford could be a good QB for this improving team.
This pick is still up in the air.
If Orton plays well all year thank they will go another direction.
Their O-line is weak as well.
13.) Arizona Cardinals Chris Beanie Wells The Cardinals get a great feature back in Wells.
The Cardinals are improving and Beanie will be a great back for many years.
14.) Minnesota Vikings Chase Daniels The Vikings need a QB and Daniel has been nothing but spectacular.
If you dont like this pick then give me a different need for the vikes.
15.) Seattle Seahawks Ciron Black The Seahawks will be picking later than this
we hope.
Either way they take an OT.
16.) Baltimore Ravens Rey Maualuga Ray Lewis a FA after this season, not to mention he is old.
Ray will resign but it doesnt hurt to draft his replacement.
17.) New Orleans Saints Aaron Curry The Saints need an OLB and Curry is an absolute freak.
He is physical and good in coverage.
18.) Jacksonville Jaguars James Laurinitis Mike Peterson is old and a FA so the Jags take a great MLB here.
19.) Washington Redskins Tyson Jackson - Jason Taylor was a terrible acquisition by the skins, they still have a need at DE.
20.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers Terrance Cody - The bucs biggest need on d is a DT.
Cody is a giant.
21.) Indianapolis Colts Sen-Derrick Marks He fits the colts system and is playing really well right now.
22.) New England Patriots Brandon Spikes The pats need to replace their aging LB corps so they continue to do so with this pick.
23.) Green Bay Packers Vontae Davis The packers corners are physical and like to play man coverage.
Davis will be a good addition to their team and a steal at 23.
24.) Philadelphia Eagles (via Carolina) Phil Loadholt The Eagles have two 1st round picks and they take Loadholt with their 1st pick.
25.) San Diego Chargers Brian Cushing He would be a great fit in San Diego.
He is playing really well right now and if he keeps it up he will be a sure 1st rounder.
He also has experience at DE and S.
26.) Philadelphia Eagles Sean Weatherspoon With Mays off the board the Eagles bolster their LB corps.
27.) Pittsburg Steelers Alex Mac Everyone says Mack is a great center and one of the best prospects in a while.
A team with few needs takes a center.
28.) Denver Broncos Peria Jerry This pick makes too much sense.
29.) Buffalo Bills Greg Hardy The bills need another DE opposite Schobel.
They get great value with Hardy.
30.) New York Giants Gerald McRath The giants need help at OLB and McRath is the BPA at that position.
McRath could be taken higher than this.
31.) Tennessee Titans Jeremy Maclin The Titans need another offensive threat.
So they can take a terrific playmaker in Maclin.
32.) Dallas Cowboys Darrius-Heyward Bey The Cowboys get great value here and add a great WR to their explosive offense.

There is no way the hawks draft in the top ten.
We are getting our two top wide outs back, we will be picking in the high teens at the lowest.
Give us the best offensive lineman or safety available.
We won't reach on a WR that doesnt fit our offence.
I'm not sure if anyone agrees but, is Bey really a top ten pick?
I think people put him there because of his physical gifts but he has to be semi productive to be in the top ten, right.
I bet he slide because guys like Troy Williamson are frsh in peoples minds.

Just going by the power rankings.
I will update it every week.
I'll give the hawks Taylor Mays then.

I doubt the Titans take Gresham...
They have Crumpler at Tight End, and rookie third round pick Craig Stevens behind him.
This is a pretty strong WR class, and I could see a WR there instead- someone like Percy Harvin, or Demetrius Byrd would fit there.
I would imagine it's a 0% chance the Colts take Cody.
All their defensive tackles are smaller, speedier guys, and Cody is freaking massive.
He doesn't fit their scheme at all.
I don't think Laurinaitis goes in the top 5 either...
Usually the only ILBs that go in the top ten even are elite, can't-miss guys, and Laurinaitis isn't there.
Neither he nor Maualuga touches Patrick Willis as a prospect, and he only went at #11.

You made the the right pick for the Chiefs for the right reason.
Right now if Bradford can continue putting up impressive numbers he would be the top QB in the draft.I know alot of people dont think he will declare but 60 plus million would be very hard to turn down.
KC can finally move forward with their new QB.
Perfect KC pick.
A+
If you happen to continue with a 2nd and 3rd round KC would also need MLB as the next top priority and OL help would also be a need.

Just wondering how Moore fell that low
Quote: : Fact is, Eeyore Manning wouldn't even be one the list if the Pats
defenders had learned how to wrap up and tackle quarterbacks.

Bucs don't need Loadholt.
Marks is the man there.
|
 |
Houston will not take Moreno.
He doesn't compliment Slaton well and we don't take RB's this early.
At #6 (hopefully not) I guarantee we take William Moore.
|
 |
I was watching the ESPN pregame show this morning, and they basically said Bradford is putting up good numbers because of the lack of opponents weaker defense.
"The oklahoma offensive has not faced any adversity, might against TCU." Direct qoute from Chris Fowler.
Myself, I believe Stafford is a better quarterback due to playing tougher defenses and over coming the adversity.
Adversity doesn't give you character, your character is revealed in adversity.

Thanks for the input, I will updated it next week.

Crabtree is the obvious pick for the Raiders, good job.
