NFL Forum :: - Lan Kiffin - Oakland Raiders Head Coaching career

Ok so for those of you who read my Texans franchise earlier this summer, and maybe took a peak at my A’s franchise before it collapsed after one game, I got my Madden 09 Collector’s Edition package yesterday and I’m ready to start up my first head coaching career.

So as I’m starting up the game I make the decision to go with the Raiders.

With a good young roster filled with promising talent they have a chance to greatly improve. I went with the Raiders, and decided to start my franchise back in February.

The first thing I looked at was my approval ratting.

That little disagreement that Lan Kiffin and Al Davis had this offseason?

It carried over into the game as I have a 1% approval ratting from the owner.

The fans are kind of ok, with a 65.

The same with the media and the rest of my coaching staff. Ok so the next thing that came up was the draft preview.

I followed this draft VERY, VERY close so I think I’ll do ok here, but I did want to see how the game rated some of these players.

The first position I looked at was running back.

Ray Rice is considered the sleeper of the class and Jonathon Stewart the bust.

We all know the real Raiders drafted Darren McFadden, however I’m not sure Ill make the same choice.

Donnie Avery is underrated, and Malcolm Kelly overrated at WR.

I’m not sure when I’ll go there but I definitely have some ideas.

I then take a look at the DTs.

Okam of Texas is underrated, Katwan Balmer underrated.

I’m definitely going to think about some of the top guys here.

After taking a look at my preview I think I’m ready to move on.

Next up… some scouting news from the combine.

Scouting Draft Board 1.

Glenn Dorsey 2. Sedrick Ellis 3.

Daren McFadden 4.

Derick Harvey 5. Jake Long Senior Bowl QB Andre Woodson - I wanted to see what this guy had.

I have Russell, so I really dont think I'll draft a QB, but if I ended up trading one of my other guys and I want an extra QB this guy could be a sleeper.

After the senior bowl, Woodson's value skyrocketed as he was named game MVP.

Ironic. John David Booty - JDB struggled during the senior bowl, his stock continues to fall. RB Chris Johnson - This is the senior bowl, so no McFadden, Jones, Mendenhall, or Stewart.

Johnson is the best guy out there to scout and he fits the Raiders speed philosophy. Matthew Forte - Dependable every down back type.

Unlikely to be needed, but its possible. Tashard Choice - Again, unlikely we look at him because he really doesn't distinguish himself from the other running backs on our roster.

We might as well take a look though. WR Jordy Nelson - This could be a major position of need and Jordy is the best senior out there. Donnie Avery - He was taken above his projected spot in the real draft, and is considered a sleeper in the game.

Ill take a good look at him. Dexter Jackson - Backup plan A. Eddie Royal - Backup plan B. OL Gosder Cherilus - Best senior on our board (97).

He did great at the real senior bowl, should be interesting to see his performance here. Chris Williams - Decent senior offensive tackle, possibly worthy of a late first round pick.

If we decide we need one we may trade back in. DL Chris Long - Dominated in one on one drills. Sedrick Ellis - I think we might end up picking this guy to take the spot of the retired Warren Sapp.

The best D-linemen at the senior bowl hes got to be on our list. Trevor Laws - If we go with D-mac in the first round I would definitely consider Laws latter down. Lawrence Jackson and Jason Jones - We got the best two DT's on our board, time to look outside. Combine Falling: Early Ducett Rising: Sam Baker Needs 1.

OLB 2. DT 3. DE 4.

RG 5. WR Pro Day Day 1 - Houston Day 2 - Rutgers Day 3 - California Day 4 - Illinois Day 5 - LSU Day 6 - Miami Day 7 - Oregon Day 8 - Nebraska Day 9 - Michigan Day 10 - Arkansas Day 11 - Oklahoma Day 12 - Virginia Day 13 - OSU Day 14 - Georgia Tech Day 15 - Iowa Day 16 - West Virginia Day 17 - Florida State Day 18 - East Carolina Day 19 - USC Day 20 - North Carolina Individual Workouts 1.

Darren McFadden 2.

Glenn Dorsey 3. Sedrick Ellis 4.

Jake Long 5. Derick Harvey 6.

Kieth Rivers 7. Chris Long

Oakland - The Raiders have placed the franchise tag on pro bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

He will earn $8.3 million next season.

Yeeee I've been waiting for someone to start a head coach career.

I made one with the Bucs, and am now through my first game of preseason.

I also started before the draft and everything. In free agency, I broke the bank with the Bucs 42 mill in cap space, signing big names Asante Samuel and Jeff Faine.

I also got Max Starks to be my backup RT, and Rob Bironas to be my kicker.

In the draft, I took: 1.

Jeff Otah 2. Desean Jackson (trade up, took my 3rd, 5th) 4.

Josh Johnson (Beast potential, plus I just love him) ...whatever the rest were addicting so far, and I will follow yours closely.

I really love doing this offseason stuff, and I should have bought the CE.

Can you buy HC by itself?

Oh nice, this should be very fun to follow.

I will read and comment often.

I can't wait, and trust me Okam is a good pick. Props to LOTO Welcome to the Falcons Ryan, Baker, Lofton!

Can you buy HC by itself? No, hc doesnt come out till sep.

9th, but if u go 2 gamestop u might beable to work out some trade in deal 4 the collector's edition. CE- $90 Madden- $60 Head Coach- $60 Madden trade value- around $30 i think

I do like HC but I think that the depth inside the depth, or the depth inside of features, is hard to access and confusing.

I think way to much is done by the computer, I wish I could see the combine, senior ball, etc.

But it is very addicting.

SWEEEET I loved your Texans chise and hopefully this will be just as good

I'll definately be following, I've been waiting for the franchise/dynasty/head coach career movement to start, there hasn't been many if any at all in the past, I think a bunch will start to pop up now. I might start a Head coach career later, I'll have to restart my file though because I'm too far in the one I'm at now to do a career.

I guess I'll use it as my test file.

Trade The Oakland Raiders trade a 4th and 7th round pick in the 2008 draft to the Chicago Bears for right defensive end Alex Brown.

Brown is expected to start next season right away. The Oakland Raiders also moved their other 7th round pick in 2008, and their 4th round pick in 2009, for WR Sinorice Moss.

Good trade for Moss.

I'll follow this closely since HC is unavailable here, I think.

But for the last time can you get HC for PC when it comes out?
