NFL Forum :: - Best Games

As I've gotten older, I've started keeping loose mental notes on the best games I've ever watched (or listened to).

Some are games which are timeless classics while others barely rate on the collective consciousness.

However, they all made a lasting impression on me. What I'd like to know are what some of the best baseball games that you recall following?

Here's my quick list: April 29th, 1986 -- Seattle at Boston, Roger Clemens becomes the first pitcher to strike out 20 batters in a 9-inning game. Game 7 of the 1997 World Series -- Wow! August 5, 2001 -- Seattle at Cleveland, Despite trailing 14-2 at one point, the Indians keep rallying and eventually win 15-14 in 11 innings. Game 7 of the 2001 World Series -- The last night of a dynasty. June 27th, 2003 -- Florida at Boston, Boston scores 14 runs in the first inning en route to a 25-8 dismantling of the Marlins. Game 4, 2004 ALCS -- If you watch the game closely enough, you can acutally feel the planet slowing down when Roberts is halfway between 1st and 2nd. September 1st, 2007 -- Baltimore at Boston, Listened to this on 4 different radio stations as I made the 2 1/2 drive home from a friends wedding.

During the 7th inning, I started counting pitches.

After the 8th, I was screaming at the radio for Francona to take the kid out.

Glad that they couldn't hear me. What're yours?

I obviously remember the 2004 ALCS, but the game that I most remember was September 8th, 1998 when McGwire broke the HR record.

Here in NY there was a huge storm, and mini tornado came through and crushed our 2 cars and boat and we were without power.

We had the generator going and our family was huddled around a little TV in our kitchen.

That HR just barely made it over that left field fence.

I was only 8 at the time so that was really my first memory of baseball that sticks in my mind. Game 7 of the 1997 WS somewhat sticks in my mind.

Freakin Jose Mesa and Charles Nagy.

98' NLDS - an unhittable Randy Johnson vs an unhittable Kevin Brown 84' - Fight with Braves Asked how many slices of pizza Jamal Williams can eat in one sitting he responded "Slices?"

Well my two favorite games are slightly biased since they both include the Astros. - 2005 NLDS Game 5: The 18 inning game with Chris Burke and Brad Ausmus of all people hitting home runs to win the game and tie the game against the Braves. - 2005 NLCS Game 5: (I know its the wrong game, but the Albert Pujols shot is still flying in Houston)

And the worst part is that he's the best closer we've had in years. EDIT: No, it's that he blew the world series.

I knew I was missing something.

The entire 04 ALCS Game 7 of the 01 (I think) WS where the D-backs won it on that Luis Gonzalez single. Kerry Wood's 20K game Randy Johnson's perfect game

2006 NLCS Game 7- Endy Chavez unbelievable catch, Yadier Molina's 9th inning Homer, Wainwrights disgusting Curve to freeze Beltran who destroys everything the Cards throw to end it.

I knew I was missing something. If Nagy had a glove 2 inches bigger....*sigh*...what could have been. That Royals Indians game a few years ago is another one.

The Royals had like 3 horrible errors and the Indians came back in the 9th to win it after trailing big.

04 ALCS was huge, especially since my dad has been a Red Sox fan since he saw Ted Williams play, and also I hate the Yankees. Game 163, Padres at Rockies, October 1, 2007. This was the best baseball game ever, hands down.

You will never change my mind about that.

You will never change my mind about that. Wow, I forgot about that.

That game was incredible.

Game 4 of the NLDS in 2005. Chirs Burke's 18th inning walkoff homer. OU Fan I'M A TEXAN Quote: : I expect Jacques Reeves to be DeMarcus Faggins 2.0.

This game was about 4-5 years ago, it was that extra inning thriller where Jeter dove into the stands putting his body at risk to make an inning ending catch and I think it was John Flaherty who hit a walk off ground rule double in the 11th or 13th, something like that.

As you can see I don't remember it that all that great.

Yankees from July 2004.

Great game (despite the outcome)

Pedro's 1 hitter and 17 k against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium in 99.

I believe Chili Davis got the Yanks only hit and it was a solo shot. Game 5 of the 99 ALDS against the Indians.

When down 5-2, Pedro comes in the 4th and shut the tribe down.

Troy O'Leary with the Grand Slam.
