Wow. This ESPN article had some telling information:

Apparently his role been reduced in one way or another and that doesn't sit well with him.
It's too bad because he is a still valuable member of the defense.
I guess this opens up opportunities for McCree, Manuel and, my personal favorite, Barrett.

Or he was just too slow to be a factor in nickel and dime.
I did always like Lynch, however it was about time for him to hang it up anyway.
In a perfect world, he would've stayed one more year and given Barrett a full year to learn.
Oh well, they'll be fine with McCree and Barrett I think, but will miss his leadership.

I see what he means what lynch is losing physically he has it mentally he is still a solid saftey just not in the afc with MAnning,Brady, Palmer, Big Ben, and in the Sd games we got killed so he couldnt of made that big of a diff.He still thinks he a starter just not for this team.

what lynch brings is still prob better than mcree, so barrett must be impressing...my best guess...my hopes as well lol.

I dont know who will be lining up in the box know, as the only person best suited for it is josh barret, but will the 7th rounder be able to step in like that?
