NFL Forum :: - My 2009 Mock Draft (Some Changes in rd.1 and Rd.2 added)
Rd.1
1. Falcons- Micheal Oher OT Ole Miss.- You Have to protect Matt Ryan so the Falcons grab Oher the best OT physically in the draft to play either LT or RT.
2.
Dolphins- Rey Maualuga ILB USC- The Dolphins use this pick to replace Zach Thomas.
3.
Chiefs- Matt Stafford QB Georgia- The Chiefs get a big armed QB who many think is the best prospect since Carson Palmer.
He plays in a Pro-Style offense as well, no gimmicks here.
4.
Lions- George Selvie DE USF- The Lions need a pass rush at LE and George Selvie is a perfect fit for the cover-2 defense.
5.
49ers- Josh Freeman QB Kansas State- A Jamarcus Russell clone.
He has all the tools, and the upside required to go high.
He is cool under pressure, mobile in the pocket, and has the arm strength and accuracy to do very well in the pros.
6.
Raiders- Micheal Johnson DE Georgia Tech- Typical Al Davis, pick BUT it is also a need pick.
He is great at rushing the passer and is an ideal RDE.
7.
Rams- Micheal Crabtree WR Texas Tech- Tory Holt is getting up in years and Isaac Bruce is gone.
The Rams set up a future WR duo in Crabtree and Avery.
8.
Bears- Andre Smith OT Alabama- Andre Smith will play anywhere you tell him to.
He can play LT, LG, RG and RT.
The Bears could use some o-line help.
With Chris Williams at LT and Andre Smith at RT the Bears are set at OT for a long time.
9.
Bengals- Greg Hardy DE Ole Miss.- The Bengals get a DE to help the defense out.
A better pass rush makes CBs life alot easier.
He would help Leon Hall and Jonathan Joesph out quite a bit.
He would also help take the pressure off of Peko.
10.
Jets- Cullen Harper QB Clemson- The Jetss need a QB so they take a polished QB out of Clemson, he is the top Senior QB.
He will already have a good defense and a solid offense if the Jets took him, they just need a Franchise QB to be a playoff contender IMO.
11.
Broncos- James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio St.- The Broncos need alot of help at MLB so they grab the Ohio St.
Product who is one of the best college ILB.
12.
Ravens- Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio St.- The Ravens have solid depth in Fabian Washington but they still need another CB to help replace Samari Rolle and Chris Mcalister
13.
Eagles- Eugene Monroe OT Virginia- The Eagles need LT depth and a LT f the future so Eugene Monroe is a perfect fit.
Many believe he is the best OT prospect.
14.
Texans- William Moore S Missouri- The Texans get the best safety in the draft.
He will be the secondaries' conerstone for years.
Brian Dawkins Jr.
15.
Bills- Greg Middleton DE Indiana- The Bills need a pass rusher opposite Aaron Schobel and like I said before a good pass rush can make a CBs life alot easier, so he will help Leodis Mckelvin.
16.
Cardinals- Beanie Wells RB Ohio St.- With Edgerin James getting older and JJ Arrington deemed a bust and likely heading into FA next year, the Cards' select Beanie Wells who falls due to lack of a RB need at the top of the draft.
LeBeau gets his version of Jerome Bettis.
17.
Redskins- Vontae Davis CB Illinois- The Redskins could use some CB help so they bring in the best CB in the draft physically in Davis.
He can also play FS if needed.
He will replace Shawn Springs eventually.
18.
Buccaneers- Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland- The Bucs need a replacement for Joey Galloway and Dexter Jackson isn't the awnser.
19.
Titans- D.J. Moore CB Vanderbilt- He is a Pac-Man Jones clone on the field.
He is a bit under-sized but he is lightning quick and he is a dynamic kick returner.
He had 6 ints last year.
20.
Eagles- Kenny Britt WR Rutgers- Britt runs clean routes, and has very good ball skills.
He uses his body well to shield defensers away so he can make a tough catch.
He is a big WR and I think he will be a really good NFL player.
21.
Saints- Gerald McRath WLB Southern Miss.- The Saints need a WLB so they bring in the rangy playmaking LB Gerald McRath.
He would complete the LBers for the Saints.
22.
Vikings- Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma- Gresham is the Best TE in the draft class and he is a physical marvel.
He is the life line to Oklahoma's QB Sam Bradford and he should beable to do the same for Tavaris Jackson.
Some people compare Gresham to Antonio Gates.
23.
Browns- Victor Harris CB Virginia Tech- Victor Harris is a perfect fit for a zone coverage scheme.
He is big, somewhat fast and is productive in college.
Not the guy with the biggest upside but, he is a relatively safe pick.
24.
Seahawks- Jeff Owens DT Georgia- The Seahawks need a DT so they bring in an all-around DT who is the best DT in the class right now.
He is quick with a 4.96 40 and he is strong with a 525 lbs bench press.
25.
Packers- Ciron Black OT LSU- The heir apparent at either LT or RT and would help the development of either Aaron Rodgers or Brian Brohm.
26.
Steelers- Duke Robinson OG Oklahoma- Alan Faneca is one of the bes OG in the game and the Steelers lost him so they bring in the best G prospect in a long time.
27.
Giants- DeMarcus Granger DT Oklahoma- Imagine if the Giants had a stud DT between Justin Tuck and Osi who can take up 2 blockers.
Dang that would suck to be the opposing QB.
28.
Jaguars- Taylor Mays SS USC- The Jags get a workout warrior with all the potential to play next to rising star Reggie Nelson.
29.
Chargers- Kam Chancellor SS Virginia Tech- A SS of the future would be nice to have for the Chargers.
He has the toughness element that the Chargers defense likes.
He is a big hitter who is a force against the run who would def.
Help against the likes of LJ, McFadden and the Broncos.
30.
Colts- Brian Robiskie WR Ohio St.- Time to move on without Marvin Harrison.
Brian is the best route runner in the draft class and he is polished coming out of Ohio St.
His dad is the Falcons WR coach.
31.
Cowboys- Tyson Jackson DE LSU- Marcus Spears has fallen out of favor in Dallas so they replace him with Jackson who is a good fit at 3-4 DE.
He is so over-rated right now its crazy but he will be a really good 3-4 DE.
32.
Patriots- Brian Orakpro OLB/DE Texas- Orakpo will give the Pats a legit replacement for Mike Vrabel.
He will be very good as a 3-4 OLB he is similar to Shawne Merriman.
Rd.2
33.
Falcons- Mike Mickens CB Cincinnati- The Falcons need CB help so they bring in Mickens who is a Rd.1 prospect but falls due to a stacked CB class.
34.
Dolphins- Brian Cushing OLB USC- The Dolphins bring in another USC alumni, Cushing is a great fit at 3-4 OLB.
He is injury-prone which is the reason he dropped this far.
35.
Chiefs- Alex Mack C Cal.- The Chiefs need o-line help and Mack can play almost every o-line posistion.
36.
Lions- Hunter Cantwell QB Louisville- A Big traditional pocket QB.
The Lions need a QB of the future and I think Cantwell would be able to feed the twin towers (C.
Johnson & R. Williams) well.
37.
49ers- Percy Harvin WR Florida- The 49ers need a WR of the future and Harvin is a playmaker who can make all the plays.
He plays WR/RB/KR.
He will be new teammate Josh Freeman's favorite target.
38.
Raiders- Xavier Fulton, Illinois- The Raiders need an OT who fits their Zone Blocking Scheme, so they reach a little on Fulton, but it will pay off, Fulton is made for the ZBS.
39.
Rams- Captain Munnerlyn CB South Carolina- Captian is an under-sized CB, but he plays bigger than he really is and he is the best CB in the SEC.
The Rams need secondary help.
40.
Bears- Curtis Painter QB Purdue- The Bears need a new QB and Painter is a good prospect who could have his name called in Rd.1.
He has good arm strength and good accurcy only thing that holds him back is the gimmicky Purdue system.
41.
Bengals- James Davis RB Clemson- James Davis is an all- around back who will eventually replace Rudi Johnson as the Bengals RB.
42.
Jets- Trevard Lindley CB Kentucky- Lindley is a physical CB who is a master of the press coverage.
He could be the #2 in the 1-2 punch of Darelle Revis and himself.
43.
Broncos- Courtney Greene, S, Rutgers- The Broncos need S help and they need a replacement for John Lynch.
Courtney Greene is the best in the box safety in the draft.
44.
Ravens- Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest- The Ravens need LB help, Adalius Thomas left and they are yet to find a suitable replacement and Terell Suggs is likely on his way out and Ray Lewis is getting older.
Curry is a pro-ready LB who can play immeadiately.
45.
Panthers- Vince Oghobaase DT Duke- Panthers need DT help so they grab the biggest DT in the draft class, he is 6'6" and 310 lbs of run stuffing and pass rushing muscle.
He could go in Rd.1.
46.
Texans- Max Unger OL Oregon- Unger is made for the ZBS, he is a player who can play C/G/OT in a ZBS and Houston could still use some o-line help from a guy like Max Unger.
47.
Bills- Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St.- The Bills could use an upgrade at TE so they draft arguably the best TE in the class.
48.
Cardinals- Eric Moncur OLB/DE Miami (Fl.)- The Cardinals need a 3-4 OLB and Moncur fits the bill, he should blow-up the combine with his work-out numbers
49.
Dolphins- Kevin Barnes CB Maryland- He is a big CB who fits the system that Parcells runs, which is the same as NE's system.
50.
Buccaneers- Vance Walker DT Georgia Tech- The Buccaneers could use a 3-gap DT to help their tampa-2 out.
Vance Walker is a perfect fit for that.
51.
Titans- Louis Murphy WR Florida- A WR with great work-out numbers and the potential to be a #1 WR.
Vince Young would finally have a good target to throw to.
52.
Eagles- Emmanuel Cook SS South Carolina- With the developing Quintin Demps tearing up TC, the Eagles can turn their focus to SS.
Cook is a Bob Sanders clone who is a playmaker at the SS spot.
53.
Giants- Derek Pegues FS Mississippi State- Derek Pegues is a lightning-quick jack of all trades;
He can play cornerback, free safety and kick returner
54.
Vikings- Darius Butler CB Connecticut- He is an explosive athlete, but he is also a productive football player he has 4.3 speed and he had 4 INts as a Jr.
He is also a great KR.
55.
Browns- Larry English OLB/DE Northern Illinois- The Browns need a replacement for Willie Mcngist who is done after this year.
English is a really good fit at 3-4 OLB.
56.
Seahawks- Derrick Williams WR Penn State- The Seahawks could use some new WR as the ones they have are average and they're aging.
57.
Packers- Morgan Trent CB Michigan- A replacement for Al Harris or Charles Woodson.
58.
Steelers- Darry Beckwith ILB LSU- A guy who can fit in a 3-4 or a tampa 2 defense.
Beckwith falls due to lack of need.
Beckwith is a fast ILB.
59.
Giants- Herman Johnson G LSU- The Jaguars need to replace Christian Naole so they grab the man-beast in Herman Johnson who is a Giant on the line.
60.
Jaguars- Jonathan Luigs C Arkansas- The Jaguars need help at C and he is arguably the best C prospect and some sites have him as a 1st rounder.
61.
Patriots- Patrick Chung SS Oregon- The Pats need to start thinking of a replacement for Rodney Harrison.
So, they draft Chung the versatile prospect out of Oregon.
62.
Colts- Dannell Ellerbe LB Georgia- A LB for the tampa-2 scheme, the Colts don't really have any glaring needs so they get the defensive leader in Ellerbe.
A liitle depth never hurt anyone.
63.
Cowboys- Brandon Spikes LB Florida- Zach Thomas is a one and done deal so the 'boys get Spikes to replace him.
He is a playmaker at the ILB spot.
64.
Patriots- Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest- The Patriots need a CB to help replace the void left by Samuel and Gay, and I don't think the 2 picks from the draft last year are going to cut it.

 |
William Moore won't make it past the Eagles.
We don't need a receiver we have 3 decent olnes signed long term.
Go Ciron Black, who's better than Eugene Monroe IMO, there.
|
 |
Terrible Vikings pick.
The only way Minnesota will pick a quarterback is if they are picking in the top 10.
But if they're picking at #22 they won't be looking at a quarterback.
Right now the Vikings could use a tight end, a cornerback, or a slot receiver.
A better pick for Minnesota would be Jermaine Gresham or Jeremy Maclin.
|
 |
1) PERFECT ravens pick.
2) solid pick for the saints but i would prefer a free safety there like myron rolle or dereck pegues to replace bullocks....also if we are picking a l.b.
And cushing is available than he's the pick.
3) bad vikes pick...first off if we make the playoffs than we will be looking for another piece to complete the puzzle as opposed to starting from scratch with a new q.b., secondly we drafted john david booty this year and if t.
Jax dont work out he will get a shot next year....jeremy maclin or jermaine greshem would be perfect.

I really don't think that the Bills will ever ponder drafting a DE in the first unless george selvie or michael johnson fall to them.
With the amount of pass catching tight ends that are top flight in next years draft I can't see them skipping over them.

Great lions pick

What I put in another thread...
Quote: : Laurinitus is not going to be picked in the first round, book it.
I don't like him at ten [eleven in this mock] at all.
I gotta say Moore would be the pick there.
|
 |
Great Packers pick.
Black is a very good all-round LT, and has the athleticism to play in our scheme.
|
 |
|
Falcons and jags picks are both great.

Picking a DE for the Bengals in the 1st round would be a huge luxury.
We can't do that.
A great pick would be Beanie Wells.

I have to echo the sentiment of the other Vikings fans, if they make the playoffs, starting over with a different QB isn't going to make them a better team, it is going to hurt the team a lot.
And if they make the playoffs, T-Jack will have played quite well in the game management area, and that will make him a valid option for the Vikings to continue using as a starting QB.
Getting a TE, CB, or WR would likely improve the Vikings, getting a QB would not.

 |
|
Nice Lions pick. They need a pass rush threat to continue to build the defense.
|
 |
Yawn...some picks every single time..
Although the Eagles could have a super draft if they took Will Moore, kinda need a safety eventually.
Love the Britt pick...way under-rated..
|
 |
|
Good Giants pick.
