No offense to you TC, but this article is absolute trash.
60mph in a 45mph zone?
I'd say my NORMAL speed in a 45 mph zone is about 55 mph if not 60 (and I'm not even a speeder - 0 speeding tickets in 8 years of driving) and most people go AT LEAST 50 (absolute minimum).
Maybe if it was 75 in a 45 or 90 in a 45, but 60?
I don't care if it was 3 weeks after a DUI.
I've never seen anyone go 45 in a 45 and if they are, people are constantly passing them.

If I was awaiting trial for a DUI charge I might, just might, take it easy on the speeding.
Wouldn't you?
|
 |
Yeah, no excuses.
This guy is a moron and just doesn't get it.
|
 |
Yep. And I didn't even make the obligatory "and we all know Carmelo Anthony hates passing" joke.
Seriously, when you're awaiting trial on a DUI you don't speed.
In fact, if I had Carmelo's money I'd just hire a driver.
They're not THAT expensive, and it's a small price to pay to avoid any liability whatsoever from your driving.
I mean, we've seen Eddie Griffin die in an SUV crash, Jay Williams' career ended before it began, and plenty of other NBA guys have gotten in trouble for driving drunk.
Just hire a guy.

Sucks to be a celebrity...
Everything you do gets published and exagerrated.

Actually what Carmelo is doing is a very big deal and I'm glad he's getting all the negative publicity because he deserves it and it is spotlighting a very serious situation.
I'm really against Drunk Driving.
I'm sure most are, but probably not to the degree that I am.
Drunk Driving is so dangerous and endangers everybody's lives, yet it isn't taken seriously and people do it every single day.
Look at Carmelo.
The guy got pulled over and was drunk.
I heard he had over two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system (could be wrong about that), yet the guy is still driving
Carmelo should have had his licence taken away that very instant.
Carmelo already knows what it is like to be a celebrity and how things get blown out of proportion.
Yet, he doesn't care about any of that and continues to put himself in situations where he will get negative publicity.
I really have no respect for Carmelo Anthony.

I mean, it isnt that serious to be caught speeding.
He didnt get another DUI so i think this news is irrelevant to his past situation

No offense, but people just don't get it.
It's not the speeding, it's the fact that he was speeding after he was busted for a DUI.
Doesn't he get it?
The guy is driving under the influence, then goes out speeding?
What an idiot.
If anything the guy should be following the law to the letter and be extra careful, but he's still careless and that's a huge problem.
|
 |
Worthy of talking about?
Not really.
Surprise?
Yeah right..
look guys I'm not the most law abiding person in the world but speeding isn't something to be scoffed at.
The reality of the situation is that he was moving too fast (in something that weighs A LOT) in an area where if there were pedestrians or other cars they would presume a certain speed from the cars around them thus they would not be acting in accordance for his actions or speed.
If this was one of my favorite players I would feel no different because there's no use in driving over the limit because the limit is there for SAFETY reasons because the stopping distance for a lot of cars goes down when you're traveling at higher speeds.
For someone who just had a DUI to be driving wrecklessly again shortly after is relevant to his (recent) past issues because I assure you the judge will bring it into consideration.
The dude shouldn't have a license, he has the money for a driver and he'd save money in the long run by bank rolling one because he doesn't show any signs that he is going to change his behavior and lawyer fees aren't cheap.
Again, I'm not saying he can't change his ways because anyone can and I have never been one to say what a man can and can't do but let's be real here, dude makes some dumb choices.
for those who don't think speeding is a big deal
think of it like this.
When you were in school and a kid threw something like a rock and missed another kids head did he get in trouble?
Yes. why? because he put something that could hurt someone into motion in their direction.
if the kid hits another kid in the head with the rock you're probably going to see the parents on Judge Judy or settling in court or out of it.
ok.
Now let's take a car that weighs god knows how much and give it a hell of a lot more velocity than that little kid could ever throw a rock.
Now let's take this object (Melo's car) and put it on the road (in the real world) where there are pedestrians and other cars (all moving at various speeds).
if Melo hits another car and injures someone there isn't anyone on here who in good faith would say that isn't a big deal.
yes, speeding is a "slap on the wrist" offense but it's only that because of the potential outcomes from commiting said offense.

No offense to you, but I can't believe you are trying to take the moral high ground on a speeding ticket.
It doesn't matter that he was recently busted for a DUI.
That DUI does not make his speeding a few weeks later any worse than it is if he had not gotten a DUI.
People speed all the time, without even realizing it.
He was going 15 miles an hour over the speed limit.
It's not like he was going 40 over and driving wrecklessly.
Come on, this is no bigger deal than if he were to download a song off of limewire or throw away some pennies he got in change.
And this is coming from someone who thinks Anthony is the king of idiots.
The guy is a huge moron, but this speeding ticket is not evidence of that.

I wonder if the Nuggets still think he's worth it.
He's been snowballing big time since his Girl in the Garden routine.
(Who hits somebody and runs?
Seriously.) Anyways, the Nuggets should just cut their losses with him.
It's addition by subtraction.
He never passes. He can't shoot.
He can't defend. He whines like a petulant brat anytime he doesn't get a call his way.
He's the anti-Bruce Bowen (minus the whining).
And I still get laughed at by people when I say I'd take Tayshaun Prince over him.
I'd take Tayshaun Prince over any small forward in the game today.
That is a fact. Carmelo needs to go into hiding for a while.
He's a moron. There should be no place in the league for morons.

Definately, because downloading a song from Limewire can kill people.
Stealing a one dollar song, or killing a carful of innnocent passagers.
Yup, pretty similar.

Yup, pretty similar.
You can kill someone by going the speed limit as well.
Let's punish him for driving, period.
The fine for 1 downloaded song is $100, Anthony's speeding ticket is $130.
I'd say the fines are pretty close.
If speeding was so much worse, don't you think the fine would be much more?
Are you seriously saying you have never sped in your car?
This is really not a very big deal, at ALL.
