NFL Forum :: - Denver Broncos Official Draft Thread
This is going to be our official draft thread for the weekend.
I will be continually updating this page to reflect what we do with each pick.
I will keep this thread stickied throughout the weekend for quick reference for those of you who will only be able to check in and won't be spending most (or all) of the draft here.
By no means is this the only thread to discuss this weekend's draft;
It's just a central thread for discussion and information.
If any of you want to start a thread on a topic such as "How does drafting Mendenhall affect Henry?" or "Will Ryan Clady start this year?" I encourage you to do so.
Please DO NOT post mock drafts in this thread!
Like always, all FORUM RULES apply and will be strictly enforced this weekend.
I would encourage everyone to review them.
Draft Picks:
Round 1 (#12): Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.
Round 2 (#42): Eddie Royal, WR, Virgina Tech
Round 4 (#108): Kory Lichtensteiger, C, Bowling Green
Round 4 (#119): Jack Williams, CB, Kent St.
Round 5 (#139): Ryan Torain, RB, Arizona St.
Round 5 (#148): Carlton Powell, DT, Virgina Tech
Round 6 (#183): Spencer Larson, MLB, Arizona
Round 7 (#220): Josh Barrett, S, Arizona St.
Round 7 (#227): Peyton Hillis, FB, Arkansas
GO BRONCOS!!!!

Ok, I assume im the first Bronco out of bed on this fine day!
Its 11am local time, and 9 hours till the draft starts.
I shall be back from Man United game at around 3pm local time, giving me 5 hours to do some University work, and then when 8pm rolls around I can sit back with my 6 pack (of beers).
With so many directions to go, I have a feeling we're in for one of those Shock Shanny drafts, rather than the somewhat predictability of last years draft.
Come on Shanny, bring Seddy home (not literally) baby!
EDIT* - Well United just lost - lets hope my day gets a lot better tonight ..
|
 |
I doubt we trade up for Seddy after the D-rod trade.
We'd have to give up to much to move up.
I wouldn't be shocked if we trade down and take whatevers left at T or RB...or, even we trade to far back, Kenny Phillips.

 |
At last! I'm so excited.
Now don't blow it Shanny.

|
Giddy up. Now as long as my wife doesn't go into labor until monday I'll be set.

Haha gotta love how Draft Day effects everything
A good Quote: for the rookies:
"Obsticals are put in your way to find out if what you want, is worth fighting for."

Finally!! We all have been talking about this day for months.
(ever since our season ended) IMO Shanny will definately sit on his hands and draft at #12 overall and take what he can get, whether its BPA or team need.
With the way the Broncos have been quiet in the FA period, I believe it will carry over to the draft.

I'm not sure I agree with that.
We've done a lot in FA:
-Boss Bailey
-Niko Koutovides
-Marlon McCree
-Maquand Manuel
-Keary Colbert
-Sammy Parker
-Darrell Jackson
-Dwayne Robertson
-Casey Weigman
While I'm not exactly thrilled with any of those moves we were active in the first 3 months of the offseason.

^ exactly - we made a lot of moves, but few high-profile ones if any.

Just because they arn't "high-profile" players doesn't mean they won't do good in our system.
|
 |
Well both Longs are off of the board.
Will Atl. go with Ryan or Dorsey?
IMO they have to go with Dorsey, that and I do not want to face Dorsey twice a year against Oakland.
|
 |
I take that back it looks like Atl will take Ryan and the Raiders will go with McFadden.
The Chiefs have to take Dorsey if he falls, right?

Noobs these days.
My POINT was our offseason only seemed quiet because it consisted of a lot of low-key moves.
Comprende amigo?

My hope is that Oakland goes for McFadden.
I think he is going to be a bust and I think Russell is going to be a bust as well.
I don't want to spread any ill-will around here with our friends from the Raiders board but it would warm my heart to see our hated rivals draft busts in the top 5 in back to back years.

Either that or trade back, I'm sure they'd get some VERY handsome offers from Cincinnati and New Orleans if Dorsey happens to be there a #5.
Otherwise they have to take him, he will add a whole new dimension to their D.
Wouldn't be great news for Cutler
