Feature requests :: Collectorz.com
I am using 4.2 now and do need to say "thanks" again for the new version.
I'm really happy with the updates, and especially with the "link comic" feature.
I do have a few suggestions for future releases:
1.
Update image location for interior art - I recently reinstalled my computer, and moved my images around.
I was thrilled to find the "update image links" capability - I was able to fix all my broken cover scan links in a couple of minutes.
Unfortunately this did not work for interior art links, so I had to spend hours updating these.
Any chance these could be included in the "update image links" function?
2.
Browse by creator - I would love the ability to set the folders view to creator, without specifying a role.
So I could see all comics that "John Doe" worked on, regardless if he's credited as artist, penciller, inker, etc.
3.
Comments on submit to Collectorz.com - I'm not sure if the Collectorz folks would find this useful, but I'd love the ability to include (optional) comments when I submit data to the online db.
Sometimes I'm trying to correct something, and I find that a "submit" and a forum post is a little awkward, so I usually just submit the data and hope the Collectorz folks can figure out why I submitted it.
Not too effective probably.
4.
Ability to assign an interior art link to a story (in the contents tab)

Here's another suggestion for the list...
I know it'll be a good long time before we see another update, but I'd really love to see a folder sorting option for "First Letter, Publisher" similar to the "First Letter, Series" option.
Thanks for all the work you put into 4.2, it's the best version yet.

I know the new releases just improved the selection of downloading back covers (always, never, only for wraparound).
However, access to this menu is cumbersome if you like to use the Update Automatically by right clicking on the mouse.
You must open the Add Comics Automatically Screen, then open the Settings screen.
If access to this screen could be added on the right click, or even a button on the toolbar, that would be great.

It's not there by default, but it's easy to make.
I've made a number of extra folder sorting options.
Just choose the "Choose Folder Fields" option instead, click on the folder with the shine to create a shiny new folder sorting option, and then click "Series First Letter" and "Publisher" on the left.
Then drag "Series First Letter" above "Publisher" or vice versa to get them sorted by the priorities you want.

Having played more with "Movie Collector," there's a feature I see there I'd love to see adapted for Comic Collector.
Would it be possible to adapt the "Box Set" function from there to create a "Collection" function here?
When I get a trade paperback, hardcover, or DVD-ROM, I like to catalog it as the individual issues within, so I can make sure I can identify any holes I may have in my collection.
However, with trade paperbacks like "Daredevil vs.
Bullseye" or DC's "Greatest Stories Ever Told" series, it can get hard to find a particular issue in the actual collection itself.
The "Box Set" feature seems like an easy way to do exactly that: the issue is tagged according to the collection it's in, and I know exactly where to look.

True, that's a little weird indeed.
It doesn't make sense.

Maybe in the future we will add this Create A Trade option.
That will solve everything.
Because this option will just combine issues you select into one TPB.
And you'll be able to check very easy which issue are inside a certain TPB, because the TPB is, like you ask, set up like a Box Set.

I don't think I'm following you.
Or maybe you're not following me...
I already have the folder list broken down to Publishers, then series, and I accomplished that doing exactly what you described.
But I am now finding the the sheer number of publishers in my folder list is making it unmanageable to move around easily...
So I want ANOTHER level above the publishers breaking the Publishers into A...
B... C... groups.
So I'd open up the A folder and see "Avatar Press" "Abstract Studios" etc...
And then another level down for the series from each publisher.
Which is also how I have my cover scans broken down, btw...

I need to trademark that name.

It was the latter.
I had the wrong "first letter" in mind.
I understand now that you're basically looking for the addition of a "Publisher First Letter" option in the list of selectable folders when building the folder options.
