Cobalt DESTROYS CARandDRIVER's Lightning Lap - Cobalt SS Network

Car and Driver just ran their 3rd annual Lightning Lap and the Cobalt SS turbocharged absolutely annihilated the competition.

This car is faster and better than I ever imagined. This is taken from the article: "We’re massively impressed with the new front-wheel-drive champion of the LL1 class, the Chevrolet Cobalt SS.

Not only did it lop three seconds off the Mazdaspeed 3’s 2007 front-drive record of 3:16.0, it was only a half-second behind the overall LL1 record of 3:12.5 set by the Nissan 350Z Track in 2006." Here is the link to the rest of it.. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...re+page-2.html

Thats awsome, cobalt FTW

At the bottom of page one, download the entire list of times.

The cobalt beat the Evo MR, the STi, the lotus elise SC, GTI R-32, and a whole host of other far more expensive cars.

It also flat DESTROYED the previous class record held by the Mazdaspeed 3. GM Performance knocked it out of the park with this car.

Thoroughly impressed.

That's because GM is attempting to make their cars so good that the aftermarket can't upgrade them, which forces the aftermarket to become better!

Its great to see the Cobalt on top of the LL1!

GM outdid themselves with the TC, way to go GM!! on a side note: Did anyone see the Civic Mugen SI?

Its in the LL2 class.

Hahahahaha i wonder how bad it will be embarrassed in that class another note: The GT-R was only 6 seconds faster than the Corvette Z51, wow.

I wonder what the Z06 and ZR-1 would have done on the track?

Wheres the actual video link to the LL1 testing...

Or em I blind. thanks

Someone post a link to the pdf with the times.

I think its on page 1 but i cant get that page to load. nm, got it, it is on the first page to the right.

Wow i cannot wait to post this on the local ricer forum muwhahahhaha!!

Lol, I just saw this, http://forums.motortrend.com/70/7013...und/index.html

Sweet....saw this on gminsidenews.

They got a big picture of the Cobalt on the front page.

Way To Freakin Kick Arse On Those Overpriced/Over-hyped Import's Chevy! You also have to consider that rally racing has dirt roads also, in that case the cobalt would hit a tree...

Yea the Cobalt beat the MR by .3 of a second on pavement but that does not prove anything in straight line go.

Though I don't race and find it pointless to own a rally car without actually rally-ing. -Alex

Quote: : ***EDIT*** I just realised the 07 205hp $22,385 Cobalt SS/SC beat the 08 280hp $27,060 Caliber SRT-4! (3:20.6 vs.

3:20.8) hah nice catch

Someone go post the chart on 8thcivic.

... not sure why Erod locked it...

But Fireman Frank complied the whole 3 year list in this thread. http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135354

I kno this has been said before but fukin finally...

GM has made mistake after mistake and finally the ss/tc i think was a brillient move.

Now whos idea was it over there to make a FWD v8...

Should be shot.
