Edge Online ~ View topic - Misinterpretations of lyrics

Two Hendrix ones.

On All Along the Watchtower when he says "the hour's getting late" it sounds like he says "but I was getting laid". Someone tarnished Purple Haze for me once by pointing out how much it sounds like he's singing "'Scuse me while I kiss this guy". Even though it doesn't mean anything, it sounds a bit like Hetfield's singing Seth Patrol (could be something about The Fly doing his rounds perhaps) on the chorus to Metallica's Sad But True.

As a child, my mum thought that the theme tune to the telly programme went, "Davie Crockett, king of the wild trombone." They sound nothing alike, but she was convinced.

I constantly mis-hear lyrics, it's infuriating.

When I find out the actual words I'm always like, "Doh!" 'n that.

I've always been a sucker for "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia with it's awesome chorus of "I'm not Adam Faith, this is how I feel..." regards g.man

Pretty much the whole song of (Sugar) We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy is confusing as hell. There's a comedy youtube vid of some MSPaint antics to match the garbled wording.

As a child I felt sorry for that lonely horse the (reformed) Yes had.

"Owner of a lonely horse", they'd sing to me.

Poor horsey. I know a couple of folks who, listening to Toto's Africa, couldn't understand what "a hundred men on Mars" possibly could do. Oh, and speaking of garbled youtube vids: the compulsory Israelites video.

Which reminds me;

This aint obscene, it's a god-damn horse race.

I thought the repetitive bit in 'Fake tales of San Fransisco' went 'Get off the Bandwagon and put down the anthem...' Also thought 'There is a house in New Orleans' said 'Its benan tharr wuinsns of manyhyy a abooporroror abrpoyy' Didn't have a clue what it said..

There's a line in A Town Called Malice that goes: "And a hundred lonely housewives clutch empty milk Bottles to their hearts Hanging out their old love letters on the line to dry" For years I thought he said "And a hundred lonely housewives clutch empty milk Bottles to their hearts Hanging out their old lambrettas on the line to dry" To this day those are still the lyrics I hear in my head when I listen to the song. IT MAKES NO SENSE! I always wondered how Christina Aguilera got away with singing: "I'm a genie in a bottle, baby, Come, come, come and lick me out."

"Ooh, ooh, me ears are alight."

Childish but I like to sing dirty lyrics to songs in work, as in g mans 'Torn': You're a little late my backside is torn etc.. The eighties is the best for filthy lyrics. I am such a card.

My wife was convinced Michael Jackson had done a song called 'Librarian Girl'.

Quote: : I am such a 'tard.

Fixed. ;o) Kidding.

Your story reminded me of a flatmate I had in halls of residence.

He didn't mis-hear lyrics, as far as I know, but he used to play Don Mclean's Vincent just sining random obscenities.

Shity wanky poo, jizzy cunty wanky fuck...

Utterly childish, but still very funny.

Utterly childish, but still very funny. I know it is really twatty but it gets a laugh especially my all time favourite Jefferson Starship "we Built this City" changed to: "Stick your shitty cock up my hole" Has to be sung with conviction and heart.

Wtf

Quote: : wtf "my thing up you dark hole"

Somebody pointed out to me that the chorus to Queen's Living on my own contains the lines "eat old lady, eat old lady, got to beat some bitch on the head."

Fuck a duck.

Ouch. Gamertag360: Kitsune25 SSB Brawl 3093-8512-5071 (Ktsne) <Wii code - 7656-8903-0656-7896>

"I'm like a turd, I'll only flush away" Nelly Furtado.

Edit: @ SLEdge: I watched that earlier.

I'll link to this as an aside. Martin Quote: : Games, not free speech. gamertag (and steam):adkm1979 Last edited by The.Kid on Mon Oct 13, 2008 9:26 pm;

Technically it's a Freddie Mercury song, not Queen. I've met one of the guys in that video, Jim Hutton, you could never hope to meet a more stereotypical pissed up Irishman.

My brother accused him of giving Freddie the AIDS.
