ABC - broadcasting 720p
ABC broadcasts all of their prime time episodic programming in HDTV and DD 5.1 for the eighth consecutive year in the 2008-2009 TV season.
This includes new shows Opportunity Knocks and Life on Mars, along with existing hits Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Dancing With The Stars, etc.
(most reality programming not included).
In addition, theatrical movies, and special events like The Oscars and The Rose Bowl Parade are available are in HDTV.
In sports, ESPN On ABC offers the regular season NBA, NBA Playoffs and The Finals, Saturday Night College Football, NASCAR and Chase For The Cup, IndyCar Series including the Indianapolis 500, Championship Figure Skating, horse racing's The Belmont Stakes, college football's Rose Bowl, and more, in HDTV.
In the AM, Good Morning America and The View are both available in HDTV on ABC.
On the news front, ABC World News with Charles Gibson, Nightline, 20/20, and This Week with George Stephanopoulos are all available in HDTV.

PBS Digital - broadcasting 1080i
Unlike the other OTA networks, PBS Digital has a unique schedule of programs and documentaries each month in HDTV, many with DD 5.1.
In addition they also offer many upconverted widescreen programs (16:9, 480i upconverted to 1080i).
HDTV programs include This Old House Hour, The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer, Antiques Roadshow, Austin City Limits, Smart Travels with Rudy Maxa, American Family, Chefs A'Field, SoundStage, and many episodes of Frontline, Nature, The American Experience, Nova and other PBS programs.
PBS HD is available via antenna in most areas, and from most Cable and Fiber systems.
Note that most PBS Digital stations multicast with three subchannels, which affects HD image quality.
DirecTV announced they will carry local PBS Digital stations, in markets where they offer local HD, 2008.
Perennial PBS favorite Sesame Street is now available in HD.

ION will launch its flagship ION Television network in HD to its top 20 markets by Feb.
17, 2009, and deploy HD across the rest of its stations by year-end.
Qubo, Ion Life, and Worship, will continue in 480-line-interlace (480i) standard-definition.
The network will have both native and upconverted HD programming, and will be carried on all 60 of ION Media Network’s television stations around the country.
ION Media Networks owns and operates the nation's largest broadcast television station group, reaching over 94 million U.S.
Television households.
Cable, Fiber, and DBS carriage is expected.

Bright House will launch enough new HD channels to top 100 by mid-2009, said spokesman Joe Durkin.
Those additions will come gradually.
Recently, it added CNN HD, Disney HD, ABC Family HD, Big Ten Network, ESPNU HD, and Bright House Sports Network.
For its part, Bright House is more choosy with the HD channels it adds, Durkin said.
"We're focused on the entire scope of home entertainment and communications.
We're not going to add HD channels just to add them," he said.

Comcast, the US largest cable provider, will gain 1.7 million subs, bringing its total to 22.3.

Paramount Domestic Television introduced the first syndicated movie package available in HDTV.
HDOne had 39 titles, including The Godfather I & II, the first six Star Trek movies, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The syndication window ran through the 2004-2005 TV season, with two showings per title, per station.
Spice Channel - broadcasting 1080i
Adult offering from Playboy, and the first HD channel of its type, Spice HD was found late nights on the DirecTV PPV channel.

The WB – broadcasting 1080i
The WB offered primetime HDTV for the fourth consecutive year in 2005-2006, including Twins, Everwood, Reba, Smallville, and Gilmore Girls in HDTV.
Tribune Broadcasting has also offered the annual Tournament of Roses Parade on WB stations.
The WB will offer DD 5.1 for select HD programming.
Merged with UPN to become The CW, fall 2006.
UPN - broadcasting 1080i
UPN, in collaboration with its corporate sibling CBS, offering three years of primetime HDTV.
HD programs included Veronica Mars, Everybody Hates Chris, Girlfriends, Love Inc., and Eve.

USA Network HD Special Events – broadcasting 1080i
USA offered four years of HDTV programming, including the first two days of The Masters golf tournament in HDTV, and HD coverage of the US Open Tennis Championships.

Since 2005, USA HD events were found on corporate sibling Universal HD, but look for them now on the new USA Network HD channel, available October 2007.

Navy Football Game
Army will play Navy in college football on CBS for 10 more years under a new contract announced by the network Thursday.
Beginning next year, the academies will square off on the second Saturday in December, putting the game at the conclusion of the college football season.
This year’s game—the 109th meeting of Army and Navy—will air Dec.
6. The game also will be streamed live and free on CBSSports.com, where members of the armed forces around the world will be able to watch it.

U-verse Significantly Expands HD Channel Lineup, Strengthens HD Channel Lead Over Cable
In a move that puts it squarely ahead of cable providers' High Definition channel offerings, AT&T Inc.
Today announced several additions to the AT&T U-verse TV channel lineup, including more than 30 new HD channels.
Beginning Nov.
3, U-verse TV customers will receive up to 30 new HD channels at no additional charge as part of their existing HD service subscription, depending on their programming package.
With the additions, U-verse TV offers more than 75 HD channels -- exceeding the HD channel lineups offered by the major local cable providers in every U-verse market.
The newly added HD channels include several regional sports networks, premium movie channels, and popular national sports, news, women's, shopping and lifestyle networks.
(Refer to the full list of HD channel additions at the end of this release.) HD service is available for $10 a month with any U-verse TV programming package.
All U-verse TV packages include HD-ready equipment, and four of the five packages include an HD-ready Total Home DVR.
Total Home DVR is being rolled out to all U-verse markets by the end of this year.
U-verse TV is also introducing more HD options on Nov.
10 with a new HD Premium package.
Featuring Universal HD, MGM HD and Smithsonian Channel HD, the new tier can be added to an HD service subscription for an additional $5 a month.
More channels will be added to the HD Premium package in the future.

THE MTN. ROLLS OUT HD TELECASTS FOR NOVEMBER 22 FOOTBALL GAMES
Colorado State/Wyoming and BYU/Utah Available in High-Definition
Centennial, CO - The Mtn.
MountainWest Sports Network, in partnership with the Mountain West Conference, will broadcast in high-definition (HD) for the first time on Saturday, November 22 beginning with MWC Football Saturday at 11 a.m.
Later in the day, two of college footballs greatest rivalries, Colorado State at Wyoming (12 p.m.
MT) and BYU at Utah (4 p.m.
MT), will be telecast in high-definition.

Being able to bring this product forward was only possible through the true spirit of partnership that exists between The Mtn.

The Mtn.
Will telecast approximately nine (9) hours of continuous high-definition programming throughout the day, encompassing the one-hour pregame show, MWC Football Saturday, leading up to kickoff in Laramie, Wyo., for the Colorado State at Wyoming game.
The Mtn.s special game day coverage from Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, The Mtn.
Live at The Stadium, which will provide in-depth coverage before, during, and after BYU at Utah airs at the conclusion of CSU/Wyoming and will also be presented in high-definition.
DIRECTV customers require a programming package (CHOICE or above in the MWC DMA or SportsPack for the remainder of the country) with HD Access and an HD-capable receiver to view high-definition programming.
Cable subscribers should check with their local service provider for service, availability and channel placement.
