Japan : 2 sumo wrestlers test positive for cannabis again - UK420

Russian sumo wrestlers Roho and Hakurozan again tested positive for cannabis after a second and more detailed examination of their urine samples, sources at the Japan Sumo Association said Saturday.
On Tuesday, Roho, 28, a member of the Otake stable, and Hakurozan, 26, of the Kitanoumi stable, tested positive for traces of cannabis in one of the association's random drugs checks.
Roho, from the makuuchi division and Hakurozan, a juryo division wrestler, are brothers.
Although they have both denied smoking cannabis, sources said the second positive results in official testing puts them in an extremely difficult position.
Five tests have been conducted on the samples, with traces of cannabis found in all of them.
The two wrestlers have demanded more official checks.
The association asked Mitsubishi Chemical Medience Corp., the only body in Japan accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency, to conduct more detailed checks on their urine samples Thursday.
Although the official results were to be released Monday or later, the association had unofficially received the results by Saturday morning.
The sources said the samples tested positive for cannabis, but that the JSA still needed to confirm whether the two deliberately inhaled.
The Metropolitan Police Department questioned the two on a voluntary basis and searched the two stables from Tuesday evening until early Wednesday morning.
Since the initial test results, Roho has insisted that he has never seen nor touched cannabis.
Hakurozan also flatly denied the allegation, saying that he had never smoked cannabis.
Both their stablemasters insisted they believed their respective wrestlers' denials.
The test conducted by the laboratory offers a more detailed analysis of the concentration of cannabis in the urine samples.
Although the test can judge whether they smoked cannabis or whether they inhaled secondhand smoke, these details were not available Saturday.
The MPD planned to question the two wrestlers again following the latest test results.
But investigators said they will need to be careful because the Cannabis Control Law does not include clauses on punishment for just the use of cannabis.

Roho repeats denial
Roho on Saturday reiterated at a press conference with his lawyer at Otake stable in Koto Ward, Tokyo, that he had never used cannabis.
"I've never used cannabis or marijuana.
I love sumo. I never did it.
I never inhaled [cannabis]," Roho said.
His stablemaster, Otake, former sekiwake Takatoriki, admitted he heard about the latest positive test result Saturday morning, and added, "I trust him."
