Nortel: Meridian systems - Univ Trunk card possibly not working?

Hello I have an Option11c with a TDS/DTR, a Digital Line card, and a Universal Trunk.

I am new at this, but my Universal Trunk card light does not go out after power-up sequence like the other two do.

How can I tell if it is working or does that mean it needs to be enabled?

And how do I do this?

Or could the card be bad? Thanks.

John Panzer

Go to LD 32 and stat the card to see it anything is programmed on the card. Wideawake12

The card will stay red untill you have at least one port programed..

If you program a trunk and it still stays red..

Ld 32 enlc x, it that does not turn the red light off it's a bad card john poole bellsouth business columbia,sc

Try to do an "IDC cardnumber" in LD 32.I just had a trunk card fried after a lightning storm and it responded but instead of a serial number it gave me some strange characters.Replaced with a known good card and it is working.

Lightning will get you every time.

I would suggest investing in some lightning protection made by Oneac and run the trunks through them before they get to the switch.

Better to replace a $20 part than the trunk card.

Next time you might not be so lucky and lose more than the trunk card.

I am trying this again fiddling with it on my workbench.

And I was trying the IDC3 or IDC 3 to check the card.

I also tried the ENLC 3 card and it gave me some kind of error.

I'd have to go back and see if I can do it again.

Unless anyone else has any possible suggestions?

Will the card stay red until I hook a line up to it?

I am testing this at my house, so my lines will be standard POTS lines. Thanks.

In LD 32 or LD 20 try using STAT 3 (or whatever slot # the card is in).

You should get one of two responses that will tell you if anything is programmed on the card. 1) CARD UNEQ 2) a listing of ports that are programmed (and what they are programmed as) and ones that are not. If you see item #1 then that is probably why your light stays lit.

Yes, the card itself may still be faulty but there's no way to be certain without anything programmed on it. If you see item #2 and your light stays lit then yes the card, or the slot, is faulty. Quote: :Will the card stay red until I hook a line up to it?

Stat your card and if its operational you should see something like this. .stat 20 1 0 00 = UNIT 00 = BUSY(TRK)(TIE EM4W WNK /WNK ) 01 = UNIT 01 = IDLE(TRK)(TIE EM4W WNK /WNK ) 02 = UNIT 02 = BUSY(TRK)(TIE EM4W WNK /WNK ) 03 = UNIT 03 = IDLE(TRK)(TIE EM4W WNK /WNK ) If you do a stat and see the following; CARD UNEQ Then you need to program that card
