Who's the MVP of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics? :: Sports and Games idolforums.com

Bryan Clay (USA) Why?

Gold medal in the decathlon.

The winner of the decathlon is highly regarded as the "World's Greatest Athlete" and deservingly so as athletes compete in 10 events in 2 days back to back. Jan Frodeno (Germany) Why?

Gold medal in the triathlon.

A hardcore test of endurance in 3 sports, 1500 m swim, 40 km bike and a 10 km run...non-stop. Nataliia Dobrynska (Ukraine) Why?

Gold medal in the heptathlon.

Like the decathlon but in 7 events but just as grueling. Nastia Liukin (USA) Why?

1 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze She won the most prestigous even that every gymnast wants, the all-around. Japanese Softball Team Why?

Did what was thought to be impossible, beat the Americans.

The Americans have won every gold medal since softball became an olympics sport since 1996. Jamaican Track and Field Team Why?

6 gold medals: both 100m finals, both 200m finals, men's 4x100 relay, women's 400m hurdles final.

Including a jamaican sweep in the women's 100m final. Michael Phelps (USA) Why?

Who doesn't know?

8 Gold Medals, 7 World Records, 1 Oympic Record Usain Bolt (Jamaica) Why?

3 Gold Medals: 100m, 200m and 4x100 relay.

All world records.

This guy is a phenom.

I look forward to see him perform in 2012. This post has been edited by .:AREA51:.: Aug 22nd 2008, 10:01 PM

Michael thanks mer <3

Phelps Don't trade the Canadian. thanks for the avatar Carly

Bolt or Phelps. Third through 5th I'd put any of those multi-sport guys.

It's crazy they can do all those things so well.

Definitely Michael Phelps.

But if we don't count him, I'd go with Usain Bolt.

I'm biased toward track and field so...I pick Usain Bolt. 2nd - Michael Phelps 3rd - tie between Bryan Clay and Jan Frodeno, the winner of the triathlon and decathlon always gets high props from me, the events are so grueling.

Definitely Michael but all of those athletes deserve the recognition ANTM: Analeigh, Marjorie, Elina, Sheena // TAR: Toni&Dallas, Aja&Ty // Pats: 5-3 SYTYCD4: Twitch, Katee, Gev, Courtney // Tour: 11/3 // xxxx

Isinbaeva should be in the first post.

She's fantastic.

Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, or Nastia Liukin. Francann and the Jones boys pwn everything, the end ll Thanks for the memories, Pete <3 ll Thanks Mer and Carly! R.I.P.

Skip Caray Braves baseball will go on, but Braves baseball will never be the same.

Michael Phelps I <3 CARRIE Underwood BEN Roethlisberger PHIL Stacey PHELPS is GOLDEN

Phelps for sure. I met Jordan Pundik of NFG: 9/28/08.

I met CIWWAF: 6/22/08.Idols: GG.EY.CA.DA.KC.CD. I support Clay Aiken.

<3 RIP Soanya/Ole.

Mer Stump & Niki Hacikyan ftw! "Do you catch a breath when I look at you?

Are you holding back like the way I do?"

I'd like to give an Honorable Mention to Cristine Santanna and Andrezza Martins de Chagas, who represented the country of Georgia in the Women's Beach Vollelyball event and beat a Russian team in the Preliminary round.

Let's not forget the rest of the Georgian delegation who still competed in Beijing, despite the war that went on in their homeland, and won four medals. This post has been edited by ShortstopVM: Aug 23rd 2008, 11:05 PM

Like the decathlon but in 7 events but just as grueling. If you want to give awards to them, don't forget to give an award to Andrey Moiseev (Russia) and Lena Schoneborn (Germany) for winning their respective Modern Pentatholn events.

That event was designed to simulate the experience of a 19th Century cavalry soldier in battle.

It includes shooting, swimming, fencing, equestrian with a random horse and 3km of running. And don't forger Emma Snowsill of Australia, who won the Women's Triathalon... As for who I'm going to give my Olympic MVP Awards to?

That question may not be answered until tomorrow night... However, I know who I might give Tan Medals (choke job/underacheving/Epic Fail) and Tin Medals (misconduct) to, but that's a different story... This post has been edited by ShortstopVM: Aug 23rd 2008, 11:21 PM

Michael Phelps. And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America -- the heartache and the hope;

The struggle and the progress;

The times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot.

Yes we can. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change.

Yes we can.

Phelps Because of him swimming FINALLY is going to get coverage for years to come.

Phelps or Bolt I'd say Bolt Fastest Man Alive Thanks for the avatar Carly and the amazing sig Nicole

I'm going to have to go with Michael Phelps, but I think that Jason Lezak should be up there too...I mean, if it wasn't for his amazing leg in the 4x100 relay, Michael would have come home with a silver amongst his other golds.

I always have high respect for multi event athletes. When the year is over I expect more olympians than athletes from the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL to get votes for Athlete of the Year namely Bolt, Phelps, Bryan and Nastia This post has been edited by .:AREA51:.: Aug 26th 2008, 7:01 PM
