Jennifer Hudson:Supporter Thread :: American Idol (Past Seasons) idolforums.com

I'm here to start a J-Hud thread.

I really don't see any recognition from her and I think at least she should be added to the Idol Showcase but until she does I wanted to make a decent fan thread because the one in the Idol 3 section is dead.

I'll be bring updates on J-Hud daily about her album release and appearances in the media and photoshoots and also news articles.

So if your a fan of J-Hud this where you need to be J-Hud's Derek Blanks Photoshoot Today I bring you photos from a photoshoot Jennifer Hudson recently taken by famed photographer Derek Blanks in promotion for her upcoming album.

For me these shots are some of the best I've seen my girl J-Hud do.

They ad a very high fashion since to the photo and J-Hud just looks so good.

She portrays different looks in every shot and shows she can be very versatile and fashion forward.

I see great things coming from Jennifer which is the reason I started this thread.

Here are some more photos from the photoshoot Jennifer is just rockin in this photoshoot and they are doing some heaving promotion for this girl.

You go J-Hud as you look flawless and more J-Hud news to come later as there is plenty.

You better believe I'm gonna rush out and buy her album when it comes out.

Hot pic! Looove her.

She's among my top eight Idols ever.

Oh I'm DEFINITELY getting her album when it comes out!

She's one of my favorite Idol alumni ever! *Shellbell86*'s Ranking of Her 37 American Idols! SET: Jess <3||||What about now?

What about today?

What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?

She is an IDOL! I will be buying the album on itunes and getting a physical copy too. I love the photoshoot btw.

Thanks for the pictures

Glad to see we got some J-Hud supporters.

I've got some more updates for her and I'll be posting more in a bit.

Also I'll be posting Idol performances, post-idol stuff and I'll be giving my feedback on them.

I've been waiting for someone to start a thread about J-Hud.

IMO she is so underrated here and i dont understand why.

So ready for her album!

I'll be at the store at midnight waiting to get my copy !

Hi guys. Like I said I'll be bringing you updates and media of J-Hud in promotion of her Album.

So while we wait on the album to drop Sept 30th I've decided to do a performance segment of J-Hud's many performances including some from Idol, post idol and any other performance I can find on youtube lol.

The won't be in any kind of order but just performances I thought Jennifer really stand out.

Maybe we'll show some of her not so great but what singer is perfect and of course we know Jen has grown from her flaws so that a good thing. I Am Changing-David Letterman 1/7/07 Okay during January of 07 media around the US were gearing up for awards shows.

The Golden Globes, The SAG Awards, and of course the Oscars and our girl Jennifer was right in the middle of it.

The motion picture "Dreamgirls" made a big splash in the fall of 06 and the media was buzzing about the newcomer to the acting world Jennifer Hudson to take home the Oscar.

During the time after Dreamgirls J-Hud made her rounds appearing on the talk show circuit and The Tonight Show with David Letterman was one of her stops.

After the interview J-Hud got up and performed a bone chilling performance of "I Am Changing".

Jennifer starts the performance off with no music what so ever and builds a very simple intro to the song without over singing (which sometimes was criticized on Idol about) but we'll get to those later. She then starts to let loose at one of my favorite parts starting around 1:08 when she holds the verse "I need a hand" We know our girl has some range and that moment right there proves that she can stay in tune when holding her notes without shouting it.

(another flaw that can be corrected remember this was a year ago) After that moment Jennifer continues to stay in the higher register of her voice.

Around 1:34 she continues to build up her voice and goes into another favorite moment of mine starting at 1:45 when she does the "now I can see part" I like how she power growls that part and goes into the depth of her voice and then picking back up in a smooth kind of way.

She gives her audience what we want and the reason why she was named an "Idol Diva".

After this she goes back into what we got in the beginning of the performance which was very controlled and subdued.

But back at 2:35 she begins to build up to the big not in the song which requires a lot of breath if she wants to pull it off decent.

She hits the long note and about at the end she goes kind of sharp and loses her happy medium tone that she had for most of the song.

But For me this was a small flaw and she really finishes the rest of the song in the same tone.

Overall my total opinion of this performance I would have to give my girl Jennifer a 8 out of a good 10.

Why because during this time Jennifer was just coming off of Dreamgirls and while she did build and grow better after Dreamgirls her voice still had more training to endure in order for her to control it better.

Maybe which is probably why Clive took a year to work with her on a album instead of putting it right out after the Dreamgirls.

Jennifer still needed to grow with her voice to perfect it.

And listening to her recent live performances J-Hud has gotten better and that year to develop really paid off Clue For Next Performance-Does she love me?

She's awesome. LOVE "Spotlight," so catchy and amazing.

Jennifer is lovely with an amazing voice.

She has the kind of talent to keep her going for a very long time.

Add me! She's incredible in pretty much whatever she attempts, she's already got her Oscar, now she needs to be a recording star

Definitely add me!

And those pics are amazing - so hot.

J-Hud On The Cover Billboard Magazine Tell me Jennifer not doing big things.

Our girl lands the cover of this Month's Billboard Magazine which is something big for any recording artist.

Now I think we can all tell that they just used shot from very recent promo shots from her album cover but it still looks great so lets just give an applause because this is just another amazing feat for the Dreamgirl.

Like they say Dreams do come true. "Love You I Do" (Dreamgirls Soundtrack, 2006) The Oprah Winfrey Show-January 30, 2007 My Comments Speaking of Dreamgirls....I actually missed this one because I didn't even know she would be on there again.

But I did catch it when they posted it on the Oprah website the next day.

I was blown way by Jennifer.

Again this occurred because as we know the Oscars where coming the next month and Oprah did and Oscar Nominee special fro her show and of course our girl Jennifer was up for best supporting actress.

Jennifer lights the stage up with a very smooth intro.

Now when she performed the song in the movie I loved it but hearing it live was even better because I really wanted to see how she would work the song.

Jennifer gives her signature "hand on hip" when doing the big notes in the song.

I will say though again my girl tends to go a little sharp sometimes which she does in small bits of the performance.

Okay some more compliments my girl Jen looks good.

Her stylist that day hooked her up and as they say black is slimming and the dress very well compliments her figure.

Back to the performance they is probably a first I really seen Jennifer work the stage because on Idol she didn't really move around the stage much on her performances so this was a rare occasion.

So it's good Jen knows how to interact with the crowd. Another tidbit I have to point out when the camera goes to Oprah singing the words every now and then.

For me it's icing on the cake when you got someone like Oprah singing along and knows the lyrics to your own song.

I love the shout-out Jenn gives at 1:55 when she say "get it Oprah" it's cute she called her out when doing the song.

It's shows us that she can be personable with her audience or she just wanted to point Oprah out either way it was cute and fun.

She had everyone on their feet clapping and moving which is always a plus when performing.

Overall this was a great fun performance that we got from Jennifer and when your on a show like Oprah you have to show up and show out and Jennifer did. Favorite Moment It came around 1:09 when she does "your the perfect man" again she did the "soul growl" which I love when she does that.

I got goosebumps and that only happens for me when someone performance well and Jennifer did that.

Again moments when you catch Oprah singing along and her calling out Oprah were some more favorite moments of mine. Clue for next performance:Believe In Me

"Jennifer Hudson Stars In "The Secret Life Of Bees" Our girl Jennifer can't be stopped in the acting world since winning that Oscar.

Since premiering in the "Sex & The City" Movie hit our girl Jennifer is gracing the silver screen once again with a roll in talked about movie of the fall and that is "The Secret Life of Bees".

Jennifer Hudson will be joined by an All-Star cast including SAG Award nominee Dakota Fanning, Grammy winner & Oscar nominee Queen Latifah and 11x Grammy Recording R&B Artist Alicia Keys. Synopsis Lily Owens (Fanning) is a young girl who lives on a peach farm that her abusive father owns.

They go to live with three estranged sisters (Latifah,Keys & Sophie Okonedo) on a honey farm, and Lily soon learns what it is like to have a real family. The Secret Life of Bees is a 2002 bestselling novel by American author Sue Monk Kidd.

It has received much critical acclaim and became a New York Times bestseller.

It has won the Orange Prize.

Production for the movie began on January 7, 2008, in Lumberton, North Carolina.

The Secret Life of Bees is scheduled for a fall release on October 17,2008 in theaters near you. Trailer My Comments From the trailer I've have seen Jennifer seems to whip us another great performance once again.

For me this I think can be another break-out movie for Jennifer.

Many after Dreamgirls and a few people I've seen around here put Jennifer in a one trick pony category say that she only won the Oscar for her singing and not for her acting (which I think is complete bulls$*t) But as I've said they don't give those Oscars to just anyone and I smell another acting award for Jennifer in this movie.

Maybe a Golden Globe (basing off the trailer) she seems to into the role and I feel is committed.

It takes true talent to be that person you are portraying and I think Jennifer will do a good job.

The best drama type movies comes from novels so I think this film will do well.

This gives Jennifer another chance that she's not just all about singing and can pull a box office hit without having to sing.

So a round of applause for Jennifer she has come a long way from 7th place on Season 3 of Idol and I think will be the only Idol to make it big in both music and movies

Bump I know there are some J-Hud fans.

Why don't yall post

I love this thread.

Keep up the great work!

Times J-Hud L.A. Times Quote: Jennifer Hudson previews her long-due debut What can a singer do for an encore, when her debut hits it right out of the park?

That's the happy problem facing Jennifer Hudson, who first found fame on "American Idol" but cemented her stardom by blowing Beyoncé away in "Dreamgirls." Hudson, who'd never acted on-screen before winning a Little Gold Man for her turn as Effie -- and, most of all, for her ferocious rendition of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," a song she mercilessly wrested from the arms of Jennifer Holliday -- has now cemented her movie-star status by appearing in the ultimate chick flick of all time.

But is she a bankable pop queen?

The question still burns. Hudson's debut album has been nearly two years in the making, but her mentor Clive Davis must finally be happy, because it's scheduled for a Sept.

30 release. I've heard a few tracks, and can confirm that the word Hudson most often uses to describe the disc -- "variety" -- applies.

The final track listing remains unsolidified;

What I heard ranged from blockbuster heart-renders to chic hip-hop-flavored experiments. The best cuts include the super-sassy Timbaland production "Pocketbook," which features a lascivious rap from Ludacris, and the smooth heartbreaker "Invisible," helmed by the Underdogs, the production team behind the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack.

Hudson recently talked about those songs and more in a phone interview from New York. On the occasion of your upcoming recording debut, Jennifer, all I can say is -- finally! Ha ha!

There was a lot of material.

I recorded over 40 songs.

There was a rumor going around that the original album was scrapped, but that was never the case.

Some songs on there are among the first we recorded, like "We Gon' Fight." That one is a gospel-flavored number, but with a futuristic beat. It was produced by Tank [a.k.a.

Durrell Babbs]. I'm a huge fan of his, and I thought the song was a great idea.

I love the feeling of it.

It's very modern, but it has the elements of R&B. Several other cuts I heard are classic ballads, and then "Pocketbook" is a high-energy throwdown. I like the variety and flexibility of my voice [on the album].

I don't mind stepping outside what I'm used to doing.

I grew up in the church, and was always into ballads, but I'm very open to contemporary music.

I consider my voice a tree with many branches. Expressing vulnerability is one of your great gifts as a singer, and it's highlighted here on ballads like "Giving Myself to You," which reminds me of a classic mid-1980s torch song. Everybody has a soft side, no matter how tough you may appear.

I want to let my listeners in on that side of me.

It's all about emotion.

To me, that comes from learning what you're singing about.

You can sing at a song, or you can sing the song.

If you know what it's about, you can really sing the song.

Otherwise, you're just making a noise.

That I learned from being in church. I hear a Whitney Houston influence on that song. I definitely take that as a huge compliment.

Of course, again, it adds more pressure!

But I don't mind it at all. Well, Clive Davis is Whitney's mentor too.

What was his involvement in your recording sessions? I have been discovered by the world's greatest talent expert, but actually, he's never been in the studio with me.

He would send me a song, or I'd go see him at the office.

That's when he gives his input.

He's definitely a hands-on kind of guy. It can't have been easy, balancing this intense recording experience with your acting career. It's just a love for the art that's driving me to do them both.

I didn't expect an acting career before a singing career.

I've never trained as an actor.

I never even thought about it.

I always wanted to sing. What are your touring plans? We'll start maybe in October.

Or January. I'm really looking forward to it -- that's my favorite thing, performing live.

My fans want an intimate setting, and it's all about my fans.

So I'm going to make it that way. -- Ann Powers

"I Believe In You And Me" (The Preacher's Wife: Original Soundtrack Album, 1996) American Idol Season 3-Wild Card-March 9, 2004 My Comments Lets back track to the good old AI Season 3 days where we first met Jennifer.

This night was Wild Card night (In my opinion a night they should bring back) Groups all together really because I just like the fact we vote two in the top 12 that we want but what ever.

Anyway Jennifer came at the very end of the show and I agree with Randy that she takes home the best performance of the night because in my her Suzy, and George were the only ones I liked that night.

Jennifer delivers a solid performance of the Whitney Houston Version of IBIYAM (originally done by R&B Group The Four Tops).

Jennifer back then sounded great but I do have to agree with Simon Jennifer had a long way to go with controlling her voice sometimes but I really couldn't tell in the performance.

She starts off the song in a small tone but she builds it up after the "Oh Boy Well" part and goes into her lower register which is Jennifer's money maker and sets that "Whitney" mood of the song.

At that point she sold me and finishes the rest of the song perfectly. Now her only faux paw was of course the dress.

Randy and especially Simon got on her about the pink flamenco dress.

I think in fact it was not the dress but the color really because it really was a tacky shade of pink and it just do anything of her.

Good thing our girl Jennifer now has a good stylist and has thrown the pink monster in the back of her closet.

Our contestants on AI are not really known for their fashion sense on the show as most of them don't have any and even when they get the stylist in the top 12 some of them still look jacked up.

I think the pink flamenco dress that Jennifer wore will go down in AI Fashion "Don't" in history.

Other than that a great performance and without Randy choosing her as his wild card I wonder where she would be.
