Predict the Success Of This Season :: American Idol 7 General Discussion idolforums.com

In terms of contestants CD sales and other things like Broadway and movie/tv roles? I think this season will be the most successful yet. David Cook will no doubt sell quite a few records.

Probably 1,000,000 - 1,500,000. David Archuleta will also be around that area, but will probably not get the attention that Cook does.

Maybe around 750,000-1,000,000. Syesha will probably release a CD that'll sell a nice 75,000, maybe.

She will probably end up on broadway in a starring role. Jason...

Well, I'm not positive, but if he gets signed by an indie label he will make a CD that'll be quietly released and bought by loyal fans.

Maybe a 20,000-50,000? Brooke could probably get signed by an indie label, but very likely a major one too.

She might release a Colbie Calliat-esque album that will be well received and may even get some radio play.

Around a 75,000-100,000, give or take. Carly might get signed and make a pop-rock album similar to Heart or Evanescence.

It won't get much attention, but fans will stay supportive.

Maybe around 50,000-100,000 at the most. Kristy will make a country album something like Kellie Pickler without the outrageous attitude.

It will get some radio play and get some good attention, depending on the advertisement and support from the label.

Near a 100,000-200,000. Michael Johns could very well be signed and release a rock-soul-ish album that will garner some good attention as "the guy who was robbed" and all that jazz.

Around 75,000-100,000. Ramiele will go to the Philippines where she will be like a mini Jasmine Trias and release some half tagalog and english albums.

I could also see her co-host/corresponder person for AI Extra.

In the Philippines her album could sell around a 100,000-200,000, but I'm not sure about the music market there. Chikezie will quietly release a gospel/soul album that might get some radio play on adult contemporary, christian music stations.

Will sell around 5,000-20,000. Amanda will perform in bars and will make a CD on an indie label and will get a nice little fanbase.

Probably 5,000-25,000. Not positive about David Hernandez. Thoughts?

Agree with you on all the contestants except for David Hernandez.

He's an amazing singer! Which means he will sell well..

Well, He IS a great singer, but I'm not sure if he got enough attention to get a label to produce his music.

Just two observations: 1.

Having a great voice does not guarantee good album sales, or even a record deal. 2.

I think you underestimate the power of the country fan.

BMG has found a pretty blonde girl country singer vein that they're mining for all it's worth with both Carrie and Kellie, and they'll continue that with Kristy Lee. Expect massive promotion and airplay for her first album, and at least a gold album for their efforts.

There hasn't been a season where every contestant was signed/released a CD...

So I think you're overestimating a little... SYTYCD - Katee Shean | ABDC - SoReal Cru, Super Cr3w | Jasmine on Kelly.Kimberley.Jasmine.LaToya.Diana.Carrie.Vonzell.Katharine.Elliott.Lisa.Paul.Melinda.Blake. Jordin.Carly.Michael.D Cook

Cook and Archie will do well and their continued success will depend largely on their SECOND album. The rest is a crap shoot...I don't see anyone else becoming the next supah-star.

I kinda agree...except I think that if Carly does the right kind of music she could get some more attention than you seem to be expecting.

She's got an amazing voice and if her music is radio-friendly on top of that, she could be a huge star IMO. This post has been edited by aifanatic100: Jul 8th 2008, 12:34 PM

The question with Carly is will another record company be willing to invest on her AGAIN?

Not sure about that one...it's a risky investment.

Yeah, Carly has an unfortunate history that will work against her, but even if BMG passes on her, she has a chance somewhere else.

She didn't have a bult-in fan base the first time, which won't guarantee a successful album, but which will help some.

Quote: I think this season will be the most successful yet. Jason...

Well, I'm not positive, but if he gets signed by an indie label he will make a CD that'll be quietly released and bought by loyal fans.

Maybe a 20,000-50,000? I do agree that it'll be the most successful season yet.

It has also been my favourite season in terms of contestants. I do think Jason will sell more, though.

Funny how you put pretty much all the other contestants as selling more than him.

He's more popular than you think!

If they're promoted right, Cook and Archie could be the first top two were both the winner AND runner-up are successful since Ruben and Clay. Kristy will have success with country - not quite as much as Kellie Pickler but a little more then Bucky Covington (and obviously not as much as Carrie) The rest?

Syesha will go Broadway and do well there, but I don't see her doing much recording-wise.

Brooke is one I can see doing well for herself if she's signed - she won't be a superstar, but I think she could be fairly successful, her music is very "in" right now. As for Jason, Carly, and Michael - they could have some success.

I think all of them will be signed, and at least one of them will be successful. Anyone I didn't mention will fade into obscurity. Quote: Just two observations: 1.

I see Kristy selling more then 200k.

Probably more like 400-600k. This post has been edited by Crazy4Idol: Jul 8th 2008, 1:51 PM

The two Davids will do well...

Kristy will do decently, I think Jason has a chance, Brooke an even smaller chance.

Everyone else will fade away for sure.

Well that's encouraging/enlightening

Quote: Well that's encouraging/enlightening Just being realistic...how many 9th-12th placers really do that well?

Mandisa is the only one I can think of who's placed lower then 8th and sold a respectable amount.

I love, love, LOVE Jason and I think he'll be successful but not in mainstream, top 40 radio.

I see Jason as having a Jimmy Buffett type of following which is probably perfect for him since I don't perceive Jason as someone who's willing to trade LIVING his life for a fast paced music career.

Not sure about that one...it's a risky investment. Well, Kristy was signed to Artista Nashville before and flopped, and they just signed her again, so it's possible.

Kristy is probably more marketable then Carly though. I think Carly will probably sign to an indie label and have some success there.

So I think you're overestimating a little... Well, I'm just saying IF they do. I know that not all of them will get signed, even though they all deserve to be.

Everyone else will fade away for sure. You missed Syesha.

She has looks, sass and a good voice.

Broadway beckons.

Honestly, the only people I could see possibly become actually like....'superstars' are the two Davids. I'm sure Jason will do very well also, he has a huge fanbase. The girls...not so much, but it definately depends on if any of them come out with a hit single.
