Looking for some information...

I don't understand what my test results mean. My carbon dioxide is low, my albumin is high, and (obviously) therefore my albumin/globulin ratio is high, my alt is low, and both my hemoglobin and hematocrit are low. Any help is appreciated.

And of course, I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow (most likely be getting an EKG because I have heart pain/palpitations);

But for the time being I'd like to understand what my test results indicate.

I HAVE googled, but it's hard to relate different things together (like protein and liver function and hemoglobin)...

So maybe you guys have some experience in the medical field, or have had similar test results and would be willing to leave your knowledge or two cents on here..

Thank you ever so much!

Where are the rest of your results?

PO2, MCV, MCHC, RDW, RBC count, WBC diff, etc.?

Chris: Where are the rest of your results?

PO2, MCV, MCHC, RDW, RBC count, WBC diff, etc.? They're normal.

I only listed those that are out of the range. Here's all of the information I have, with the normal ranges in parentheses. Glucose 86 (65-99), Urea Nitrate 9 (7-20), Creatinine 0.68 (0.50-1.20), Sodium 140 (135-146), Potassium 4.1 (3.8-5.1), Chloride 107 (98-110), Carbon Dioxide 19 (21-33), Protein Total 7.3 (6.3-8.2), Albumin 5.1 (3.6-5.1), Globulin 2.2 (2.0-3.8), Albumin/ Globulin ratio 2.3 (1.0-2.1), Bilirubin total 0.7 (0.2-1.1), Alkaline Phosphatase 47 (47-176), AST 13 (12-32), ALT 4 (5-32), WBCs 5.6 (4.4-10.4), RBCs 4.1 (4.0-4.8), Hemoglobin 19 (12.0-14.8), Hematocrit 36 (37-43), MCV 87 (83-95), MCH 30 (28-32), RDW 12.9 (11.0-14.6), Platelets 240 (165-400), Granulocytes % 75 (45-85), Lymphocytes % 19 (10-45), Mononuclears % 6 (1-13), Granulocytes # 4.2 (2.0-8.8). Thank you.

Nothing looks too out of the ordinary.

Your Hgb is a bit high but that can be caused by quite a few simple things...such as smoking.

Your Hgb is a bit high but that can be caused by quite a few simple things...such as smoking. I've been having heart palpitations lately, and passed out a little while ago (which is the reason I got the lab work done).

Any ideas? And thank you for your time, Chris.

:]

Chris: Nothing looks too out of the ordinary.

Your Hgb is a bit high but that can be caused by quite a few simple things...such as smoking. And WOW, Hemoglobin was supposed to be an 11 (12.0-14.8).

My previous post was a typo and a complete contradiction to what I said earlier about having low hemoglobin.

-blush- Sorry.

In that case your results look fine.

Your doc will have to check you out more.

Chris: In that case your results look fine.

Your doc will have to check you out more. Crap.

No more! :( Thank you, Chris.

And good night. :]

I get heart palpitations too.

The most common cause for those is stress, lack of exercise, caffeine, or problems with your blood pressure. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. As long as I do cardiovascular exercise and don't consume any caffeine I'm fine.

Your heart palpatations could be anxiety attacks, they affect lots of people like that, including myself.

When you have these palpatations are they accompanied with shortness of breath and a disoriented feeling?

*under the star*: your heart palpatations could be anxiety attacks, they affect lots of people like that, including myself.

When you have these palpatations are they accompanied with shortness of breath and a disoriented feeling? Everyone's telling me I'm probably stressed.

:( No, they just come randomly.

No other symptom.
