A8 Tire Pressure - forums.GenerationDub.com
In my dads A8 he has a tire pressure monitoring system that can see what pressure all the tires are at even the spare.
1.
How accurate is it?
They were showing 32-31psi which was triggering a warning light.
2.
Inside the car door is says the tires should be about 40psi, is that pretty high or?
He has 19" rims.
I am not sure of the specs though.

40 is pretty common for a 19 inch rim IMO, but i can't confirm what they should be.
Check the tires themselves for the PSI, on the side of the tire it should say.
Also confirm with a regular tire pressure gauge if you are concerned with the readout being wrong or inaccurate

I can tell you from my friends FX45 that the readout is very tempermental and depending on temperature and road conditions, his light comes on too...and hte read out will be different from the pumped PSI.
Or perhaps there could be a small leak?

We have the pressure sensors on some of our trucks at work, and they're accurate to 125 psi !
(thats what truck drive tires run at)
I run the 19's on my car @ 40, not sure what it calls for, but its what feels the best.

I'm running my 19's at 31 psi.
Maybe they're under inflated?
Sorry to jack your thread.

Yeah Audi on the inside of the car says 40psi.
That is what I went with.

It doesnt matter what u run the pressure at its the pressure differential that sets it off.
The spare has a sensor too just so u know

Yeah, personally I think so, I'd have at least 35psi in there Ric.

Thanks Dan... I'll get them to 35 psi

I wouldn't call the readout temperamental...
Tire pressure will change quite a lot as the tires heat up while driving(even in cold weather), and also as the ambient temperature changes.
Gas laws state that if temperature changes and the volume is constant, then pressure changes too.

I've never ran a tire under 40psi, feels way too squishy for my liking
