Dynasty Draft- I'm on the clock (1.07) - Footballguys Forums

Hey all. Was hoping for some opinions on who would be a good choice at 1.07.

I've been trying to trade the pick for an established WR, but no luck so far.

Our league is 12 teams and this is the 2nd year in Dynasty format- PPR (WRs 1 PPR, RBs .5 PPR;

TE 1.5 PPR) . We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE, 1 Def, 1 K. Here is my current team, along with the last year the players are signed thru: Brady, Tom NEP QB - 2010 Clemens, Kellen NYJ QB - 2009 Stanton, Drew DET QB (Taxi Squad) Orton, Kyle CHI QB - FA, no contract assigned yet Brown, Chris HOU RB - 2008 Forte, Matt CHI RB ® - 2011 Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB - 2010 Mendenhall, Rashard PIT RB ® - 2012 Norwood, Jerious ATL RB - 2009 Parker, Willie PIT RB - 2009 Taylor, Fred JAC RB - 2008 Thomas, Pierre NOS RB - no contract assigned yet Young, Selvin DEN RB - 2008 Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR - 2010 Evans, Lee BUF WR - 2010 Johnson, Calvin DET WR - 2011 Jones, Jacoby HOU WR - 2009 Moss, Santana WAS WR - 2008 Walker, Mike JAC WR (Taxi Squad) Cooley, Chris WAS TE - 2009 Smith, L.J.

PHI TE - 2008 Akers, David PHI PK - 2009 Nugent, Mike NYJ PK - 2008 Bills, Buffalo BUF Def - 2008 Jaguars, Jacksonville JAC Def - 2009 The following players have already been drafted: McFadden, Steward, Mendenhall, Ryan, Forte, F Jones. We have an offer of S Rice and 1.11 for Forte and another offer of 2009 1st and 2nd rounders for 1.07 (the team offering this is pretty good so the picks would most likely be toward the end of the rounds next year) We feel like Smith is the best player available, but we're overstocked at RB.

What do you guys think?

We have another 5 hours before our pick is due. thanks! This post has been edited by spon23: Jul 3 2008, 11:39 AM

I would go ahead and draft Smith at this point.

He usually is going 1.4 or 1.5 so good value. I dont like the 2009 1st and 2nd trade at all unless a crappy team which it is not I do like the Sidney Rice offer but how much does it help you in the end.

Which will have more trade value.

Forte(and drafting Smith) or Rice and 1.11 in getting what you really need.

Another big name starter at WR since I dont think you can depend on Bowe and Johnson to be the stud you really need at this point

LT and Westy must rock with this scoring system where RB's outscore WR's for receptions.

Bush must have a nice premium.

Chris Johnson is a guy that could be looked at also as another bush like type of player.

I wonder if he is there at the 1.11.

Maybe wait and see if he is available and than take the deal if he wanted Smith

Pass on the deals and take Smith, because being "overstocked at RB" makes no sense. I'll admit that your RBs are a solid group, none of them are without question marks, so hedging your bets here is a better option. IMHO you do need WR help as you've got lots of talent but no proven performance, but adding Rice to that mix is just more of the same.

I'd be looking to package some of your RB depth with a lesser WR for a Fitz/Wayne/Colston style receiver.

It's WR 1 PPR, TE 1.5 PPR and RB .5 PPR.

QBs are the highest scorers bc they get points for completion percentage too.

WRs score really high also because it's 1 point per 10 receiving/rushing yards.

We've been trying to trade for a top tier WR by packaging one of our WRs plus a couple RBs or draft pics but haven't been able to get anything done yet. I'm leaning towards Smith at this point but am going to wait a few hours to see if any of the trade feelers i've sent out come back. thanks guys.

Keep the opinions coming!

Lol

Lol Definitely take Smith as your pick.

The season is still a ways away, so you could probably trade some of your RB depth for an established WR as Training Camp begins and people start to realize what they do and do not have on their rosters.

Patience will be the key in landing the WR you need. Maybe you could dangle Selvin Young as trade bait.

I'm not a big fan of any Broncos' RB as long as Shanahan is in Denver.

In a dynasty format you always want to take the BPA.

Everything else can be worked out over time through trades and such.

Kevin Smith seems like the BPA at this point. Does the team that offered you a 1st and 2nd in 2009 have a pick coming up?

You might want to at least consider dropping down a few spots for the added pick if he could make the deal a 2008 1st and a 2009 2nd.

With Kevin Smith, Ray Rice, Chris Johnson and all the WR still left on the board I think it could at least be a consideration.

I would be happy to draft Kevin Smith there.

Surprised he fell that far.

Ive seen him taken as high as #3, but usually at 1.4 or 1.5.

I have him at 1.4, and think hes got a solid chance at a good year

The dude has NO competition adn was considered a steal when taken in the third round

Kevin smith represents excellent value at this point.
