Trade for Adrian Peterson - Footballguys Forums

I have been offered up qite the trade proposal and I am having a hard time deciding whether or not to pull the trigger.

Here's the situation: This is a 10-team keeper league.

You keep 4 players each year.

The draft is such that the worst team from the year before picks first in each round and the best team picks last in each round.

The first round is generally used to pick up the rookie RB's and some of the lower tier RB's such as Jamal Lewis, Willie Parker, and Edgerin James.

I won the league last year and I pick last in each round this year.

Her are my keepers for this year as it stands today: Adrian Peterson (Vikings) Steven Jackson Braylon Edwards Anquan Boldin The following trade has been offered to me: I get: P.

Manning L Fitzgerald 2008 1st round pick (7th overall) 2009 1st round pick I would have to give up: Adrian Peterson Chester Taylor Now anyway I look at this, I come out with the same number of points being produced and the quality of players dropps off fairly equally at the QB and RB positions, meaning that I have examined the needs of the other teams in the league and I am fairly confident which players would be available at the #7 and #10 pick.

So the 2 first round draft picks seal the deal and I should accept the trade proposal, right?

Not so easy. While I love the potential the AP offers and to have a backfiled of AP and Jackson would be a backfield like no other ever assembled in our league, the injury thing with AP concerns me.

Now I could make a point of getting Chester Taylor, but I think someone may try to steal him and I would have to waste a high draft pick on Taylor.

I would probably end up doing this every single year that I own AP.

Manning is great, but probably has 2 or 3 years at the very top of his game, as he is aging quickly.

Fitzgerald has great potential, but I have some long term concerns about the Cardinals offense.

A top notch RB will generall have 3 or 4 years in the upper tier, while a top notch WR can stay up there for 7 or 8 years.

Having Edwards and Fitzgerald will give me an incredible duo for years to come.

However, the Jackson and AP combination assures me that I have one solid performance week in and week out.

However Manning is a very consistent QB and that is also worth something. So what do all of you think?

Should I do the trade?

By the way, I am a huge Vikings fan, but I am trying not to let that cloud my perception of the value.

The person offering me the trade is also a huge Vikings fan. Thanks Ted Wawrzyniak

I don't see the scoring system, starting requirements, etc.

Sorry. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def/ST Pass TD = 4 pts Rush TD = 6 pts Receiving TD = 6 pts 50 yd passing = 1 point 20 yds rushing = 1 pt. 100 yds rushing = 2 bonus points Interception/fumble = -1 pt

I wouldnt do it, as you are really getting rid of Boldin too, as you cant keep 5 players, if I am reading this correctly...

As well, there are lots of good QBs that put up equal or better numbers to Manning..

I.e. Brees etc...

There is only one AD

I was kind of thinking that as well, but what really makes me think is the 2 #1 picks.

Although if they end up being 6th overall or lower, chances of me getting something great are slim.

If you had no roster limits, this would be a tough one..

But, those 2 first rounders would more than likely just be fill in players for that year, and then dropped as 3 of the 4 players are 25 years old or younger, and Boldin is 27..

Looks like you would be holding on to these 4 players for the foreseeable future...

It's not a bad offer on face value, but I would keep ADP in your case.

You won't be able to get a very good replacement for ADP at 1.07, you already have 2 very good WRs, including one from ARI already, and you can get a good QB in the draft a lot easier than you can get a RB.

Guys like ADP and SJax are much harder to replace in limited keeper leagues than top WRs and QBs, especially leagues with no PPR and 4 pts per passing TD.
