40D vs D300 one year price history: -35% vs. just -15%, ouch!: Canon EOS 40D - 10D Forum: Digital Photography Review

A mix of both the 40D not selling as well as hoped plus, recently, growing 50D rumours I guess (though there are also growing D90 rumours, so why isn't THAT depressing the D300's price?) Any thoughts? (didn't manage to do a copy / paste to here - don't know how others do it, pls help thanks!

- so pls follow the link) the data is in Swiss Francs (chf), and comes from http://www.toppreise.ch, which is a very popular (therefore likely representative) Swiss price comparison site for various produts including electronics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41427221@N00/2778830190/

Spec/price of the D300...so less depreciation. -- Have a great and wonderful Day !!

This has been Canon's way(large price drops after a few months) for several years)long before Nikon's D300/D3 were announced.

The 10D/20D/30D/40D/...

Have a predictable replacement schedule every 18 months or so, the D100/D200/D300 do not.

The D200 came 5 years after the D100, the D300 2 years after that.

The D300 has only been in production 1 year and has no direct competition from Canon or other DSLR which would force a shorter product life. The upcoming 50D is a direct replacement for the 40D.

The upcoming D90 is a replacement for the D80, which has been dropping in price. Quote: : > >
