Batman: Gotham Knight Discussion - Comic Book Resources Forums

Batman Gotham Knight was released today on DVD and Blu-ray. After watching it I must say that the wait was defiantly worth it.

Kevin Conroy returns as the definitive voice of the animated Batman. The 6 stories are all great, and the animation style is different in each one. Each of the stories are amazing.

The first one may seem odd, but all of them show us what Batman is to Gotham City.

A Legend, a Protector, and a Hero. I would highly recommend the 2 disk special edition or the Blu-ray version.

The documentary on disc 2 on the Batman villains is absolutely amazing, and the 4 episodes form BTAS are great too. Bruce Timm's 4 BTAS episodes are Heart Of Ice I Am The Night Legends of the Dark Knight and Over The Edge. A very strong selection.

I watched as a batman fan i dug it but i get the feeling the casual viewer wouldn't so much i thought that the changes in artistic style and direction hurt the whole package more than it helped if all the shorts are watched SEPARATELY though...then you would have some viewing fun all in all, none of the minisodes stood out, but some good stuff thar

I will actually be seeing this before The Dark Knight.

The cinema which is showing the advanced screening on the 14th will also be playing Batman Begins, Batman: Gotham Knight and then The Dark Knight.

It's a Batman marathon.

Tickets were free too. - I Am Midnight.

How the $#@$ did you get tickets to the advanced screening?

I had a tough time just getting IMAX tickets.

Now I gotta wait until Saturday at 6:00 AM to see it in IMAX.

That adds and extra day plus that I gotta wait now.

I was lucky enough to see this on the Internet before it was yanked down.

And I only found the final third to be enjoyable.

'Working with pain' and 'Dead Shot'.

The rest were just boring and ho hum.

And as much as I love Kevin Conroy, I truly think that a younger actor should have been cast to do the voice of young Bruce Wayne.

I haven't bought the DVD, I'll just wait until I get paid. Speaking of previews of the Dark Knight.

Anyone in the Toronto area who has access to tickets for the advance showing and would not mind giving me one.

Please send me a PM.--We can work something out if necessary . 'Mia'

'Mia' Agreed. It's always cool and nice to have a new comic themed movie, game etc.

But I don't see this as being worth to go out and buy right away.

Maybe to a hardcore Batfan to add to their collection but I don't think I'll watch it again. The Killer Croc/Scarecrow episode, and the other two Mia mentioned were the best of all of them.

The others were just a bit too dull for me, but nice to watch. And I remember hearing that this would show us what happened between the time gap between the two movies, but I don't see any of the material in this DVD being mentioned in TDK.

Maybe that bullet shield will result in someone's demise.

The organized crime figures will probably appear.

Can't really recall much more.

There is a little bit of continuity errors in Gotham Knight.

I mean in Deadshot, the interior of Wayne's pad looks more like a mansion than an expensive penthouse...

But then again, maybe million dollar apartments have trees out the windows and huge curtains hanging down the windows.

Gotham Tonight mentioned Rumors of the Scarecrow leading a bunch of disturbed individuals, and a story about a Kid who got some fear toxin disguised as Ecstasy.

So atleast it has some continuity with the Viral Marketing. The only ones I didn't liked were the First and the Last one.

Everything else was just awesome, particulary Darkness Dwells and Working through pain. By The way did anyone else noted the Burton Batmobile in Working through pain?

I liked Crossfire, In Darkness Dwells, and Deadshot.

Working through the pain was my least favorite.

Gotham looked great throughout the whole series.

The visuals were awesome.

The coffin street Batman followed in search of Killer Croc down in the sewers was really cool.

The gang warfare shootout scene was great too.

This wasn't the greatest collection of animated Batman stories, but I think I got my money's worth.

I really enjoyed this DVD.

As mentioned, the visuals were beautiful. "Working Through Pain" has to be the best Batman story since...we'll, I can't remember a better story.

While it was playing, I was thinking "Wow...this is such a unique & awesome perspective for a Batman story".

I was left thinking that it was so good, I pleasantly surprised one's done it before. It's worth buying/renting the DVD for that story alone. -Peter

Hey, guys, I usually stick to the Marvel forums, but I'm a huge Batman fan, and this release was enough reason to break the silence.

I thought B:GK was EXCELLENT.

Each one has its own theme, dealing with stuff like Batman's motivations, his perception by the police, his perception by the public, and the lengths to which his villains would go to have him taken out. The animation all around was awesome.

While some designs I thought were kinda ehhh(I didn't really like the girly looking Batman in Field Test), others look downright badass(him in Deadshot and Crossfire).

I especially liked that they pretty much use his classic outfit from TAS.

Deadshot, in particular, was animated and drawn superbly, and I'm pretty sure that particular episode was done by Studio Madhouse, the animators who brought us Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll, of which the episode reminded me a lot. Overall, fans of good animation and Batman REALLY need to get this, it was pure visual joy for me :)

I think each film added it's own charm.

I actually liked the way Bruce Wayne looked in Field Test.

It reminded me of the way Light looked in the anime show Death Note.

My favorite film was "Working Through the Pain".

I loved it's metaphorical depth.

I actually think the variety of artistic styles was very refreshing and helped this DVD alot.

I'd really like to see more of the Batmobile displayed in Field Test.

I wonder if guns will be a major theme in the Dark Knight?

I thought this was definitly worth getting, however I cant help but think that the major of the stories dont really fit with the Begins Universe sense its all about being as graphically real as possiable but hey its no big deal Kevin Conroy will at least for me be the definitive batman at least in voice oh as well as Bruce.

...maybe I'm nitpicking, but I didnt like how Batman's uniform had a chin gaurd on it in every episode. Gotham Knight was good though
