Examining the Legacy of the Bush Administration - Topic Powered by eve community
My employer is sponsoring a series of lectures on the Bush admininistration: Examining the Legacy of the Bush Administration
The lectures will examine the Bush Administration and: the Supreme Court;
Science;
Civil Rights;
Voting rights; Executive Power;
International law;
Gender and reproductive rights.
I thought I wouldn't be able to support this series, because it would no doubt presuppose that anything positive came out of the Bush Administration.
Then I got to thinking that my attitude was a little close-minded;
After all, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
So I'm throwing this out to the forum for discussion: What positive contributions or developments, if any, have come from the Bush Administration, in the areas listed above, or anyplace else?
This is too easy a target, so I'm asking for serious, legitimate discussion.

Boy, I don't like his chances in any of those topics except, maybe, the Supreme Court.
Ooh, I got one under science.
He didn't ratify the Kyoto Protocol.

Who said a legacy HAD to be positive?
A legacy's strength is in what it defines - positive or negative.

Maybe they should examine the legacy of Duke lacrosse

His administration has redefined the role of the vice president.
Being serious here in a "constitutional scholarship" sort of way.
Don't have to agree with it or like Dick Cheney, but the VP's office has one hell of a lot more power than Al Gore had.
I think he appointed the first black Secretary of State with Colin Powell
that's all I got.
Other than that this has been a cluster****

People who normally wouldn't give a damn about the political process are now starting to pay attention

True but I think once he's gone those people will probably crawl back under their rocks.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff.

That's why its so important to crush Obama now.
We need to make sure the next generation is just as disaffected and disillusioned as my generation so that anybody who wants to see things change stays the hell home in November.

No we need Obama to make everyone poor and dependent on the government, not just the lazy slum dwellers.

No, we need to keep spreading false generalizations like yours, even though we know that you're the only hard working American that's left.
