As the Apple Turns :: View topic - North Carolina and Indiana primaries
Indiana is now a 9 % spread for Hillary, but North Carolina is a 26 % spread for Obama.
North Carolina is more populous.
So, its a good night for Obama.
Caveat: vote counting is still in progress

Youch. Indiana was an epic implosion for Clinton.

It has gotta be over.
She really didn't close the deal last nite.
I don't see how she can justify continuing now when he got fourteen points (or around that) above her in N.
Carolina.

It seems so, but before we drive a stake in the heart of Team Clinton a few things to note:
-Based on delegate vote cast thus far, neither Obama or Hillary will get to magic number of 2025.
-Despite Obama lead in delegates, Hillary still has more superdelegates committed to her.
-Popular vote is split razor thin;
Obama cannot "seal the deal".
-FL and MI primary votes are as yet uncounted and unclaimed.
-As is clear, Obama has yet to win a big state and he is badly losing vote of middle class white demographic.
-At least 48% of Democrats (nationally) vote against Obama in primaries.
Based on these outstanding notes, if I were a Democrat Delegate I would be extremely concerned about making Sen.
Obama the Democrat nominee.
My guess is that this thing goes to Convention.
I don't have dog in this hunt but if Democrats throw Hillary Clinton under the bus and go with Barack Obama before Convention;
At least a third (33.3%) of Democrats may cross the aisle and vote for John McCain.
Additionally, if FL and MI primary votes are not counted and delegates seated at Democrat Convention, McCain will take both states in landslide due to unhappy voters...

I wonder how many of Clinton's voters are mischief Republicans who want to hand it to McCain?
It's obvious that he gains the longer this goes on.
In any case, if it does go to the convention (and we know it will, because they're following that West Wing script...
- besides, noone's dropping out now) I think that it will be hard to give the nod to the person who lost the popular vote - no matter how close it may be.

The up and coming mainstream consensus is that Hillary has no chance to get the nomination.
Here's a Time Magazine story on "5 mistakes" the Clinton campaign made.

Strangely, running a race-baiting campaign and lying about NAFTA or the Bosnia Sniper incident don't appear.

Last night on the Daily Show, McCain was on talking about his chance of winning, when John Daily remarked about something that was a little frightening (at least to me), if he truly wanted to win the white house, the only thing he would need to do is to pick a great vp, like Hillary Clinton.
McCain however immediately denounced that idea, although if you think about it, it would work in his favor by pulling a good section of the fractured democrat party to his rank.

then go to senator john mccain part 2

John Daily indeed
Let's take a look at the episode.

Not really.
McCain was though of to be Kerry's running mate, and he thought of moving to the dems a few years back.

Okay;
I'll do my best to try to raise the level of debate...
Acknowledge that the prevailing opinion on this board is largely liberal in nature, with most opposed to any conservative viewpoint.
So when I post, that is how I approach the discussion...

that lasted real long didn't it?
Oh well, back to slash and burn then!

Picking a democrat might draw supporters from the center, and there are less controversial democrats (such as Lieberman.
I know he's technically independent, but it would work the same way) he could pick, but I really don't think it will happen.
McCain needs a VP to the right of him to energize the base, or they won't vote at all.

Stop flamebaiting.
I'm with CD on this, I'm sure it's possible, but Hillary?
There isn't really much to debate there.
How on earth would a republican want to have a democrat as the tiebreaking vote in the senate?

I believe that according to Ann Coulter, Clinton is to the right of McCain.
Of course, if we believed everything Coulter said...
Well.

Wtf?
If cd didn't want to be a dick about it, he could have politely said he didn't agree with me, not insinuate I am doing drugs because I thought this might provide good debate, there was no flamebait on my part, I just posted a reminder to him saying he was going to up his level, but did he honestly with that stupid remark?
As for the idea, even if it does not sit well with republicans or democrats, the idea would provide a strong winning combination for either party, it would also prove to balance each party out without them going extreme to one side or the other.

The VP selection is mostly about illustrating the judgement of the candidate.
It adds or detracts from the him (or her) based on what one thinks of the selection.
No one votes for the bottom of the ticket.
That's like casting your vote because you think a candidate is going to die---wait, that might factor in on the Republican side this year.
In any case, for one simple reason no one is going to pick Hillary for Vice President...
...Would you want to be the heartbeat that stands between the Clintons and a "third" term?

It was a figure of speech;
At this point I don't expect either of you to be polite.
If you though his response was pointless you should have ignored it.
