The Randi Rhodes Show - Radio, only smarter...

The next step is fast approaching for the Democratic Party.

It's time for the Obama folks to start moving towards the next phase where we reassure and welcome the Clinton people into the wonderful world of supporting Barack Obama. I'm sitting here remembering my own journey: the early days of the primary and supporting Kucinich, then being torn between Clinton and Obama, finally making my choice in the voting booth, then beginning to truly walk the path with him towards the nomination and now looking forward to the Presidency.

Then I expand my own experience and try to think about the Clinton people who will begin a similar journey over the next weeks and months.

I think this is something we all need to do and we need to start to reach out. There is no doubt in my mind that they will become enthusiastic once they move beyond the bitterness of the primary and realize the quality of our candidate.

They will begin to frame their own arguments in favor of Obama.

They will begin to fight the slander and outright lies, spending hours tracking down facts and figures, reading punditry, learning the life story of a remarkable person...

And they will be so pleased! I don't mean that they should ever think less of Sen Clinton.

I do not think less of Rep Kucinich.

In my heart of hearts I wish it could be otherwise but in my mind I know that there can be only one. But as the months have gone by I find that I am more and more convinced that we have a great candidate, one worthy of us and one we can proudly get behind.

Those who are just coming on board for the fight ahead will find that they too can stand up and be proud of our candidate.

The optimism for the future that the Obama camp feels now, they too will feel as we march united towards November. So welcome fellow Democrats and come on in...

The water is amazing!

Religion. Things like this really need to be in the Religion section.

Where are the mods? We have each betrayed our class. - Zhou Enlai to Nikita Khrushchev A new empire in rags The truth in one free afternoon

Where are the mods? I get what you're saying Tyo.

I don't think teadye realized how that sounded. I ain't walking the path with nobody but myself and my dog, um, my cat, maybe.

My dog left me for another woman. Politicians are politicians.

And issues are issues. This post has been edited by egghead: May 11 2008, 11:25 AM Confronted with the inconsistencies in McCain’s record in March, the senator’s aides told the New York Times that the senator “has evolved rather than switched positions in his 25-year career.” That’s a perfectly sensible spin — when a politician holds one position, and then, for apparently political reasons, decides to embrace the polar opposite position, it’s only natural for his or her aides to say the politician’s position has “evolved.” ~ Carpetbagger

One pet peeve, nothing personal, is that I think we need to refer to those of that party as Democratics. Sure enough, anyone of sane mind will gravitate to the Obama camp.

My first choice would have been John Edwards or to be honest, Cynthis McKinney. My fear is that much of the fighting between Hillary and Obama has been hyped by freeper astroturfers.

I think other false ideas are being meme-fied that Clinton supporters for the most part won't even vote.

Such a scenario plays into a deeper fear I have that the elections have been rigged since 2000. So the only way a McCain victory could be justified is by throwing all the wedge issues around like they are going out of business. One thing I can't understand is why McCain's pastor isn't coming under the same fire as Wright.

That would seem to prove media complicity.

Or maybe I just missed that coverage, as the only one I ever watch is Olbermann.

I use The Raw Story and others to get the news.

I use The Raw Story and others to get the news. I think that's happening - very slowly, much later than it should have been, certainly not as harsh as we've seen re: Wright, but I think it is just starting to percolate into the MSM.

In the last week I've seen two stories that - as if the reporters personally just uncovered the "scandal" - reported on the two most prominent crackpots who endorsed McCain.

And again, as if THEY have been wondering this all along and had nothing to do with ignoring it for 2-3 months, they wondered aloud why so much fuss has been made about Wright, but nothing about Hagee and ...

Damn, his name escapes me - the "Islam wants to kill Americans and take over the world" fellow.

PARSELY! That's it, Rod Parsley.

Check out THIS VIDEO from Mother Jones. Anyway, I think the key to keeping it up and getting more is that the bloggers and the liberal Internet news sites don't let up on it - repetition, repetition, repetition.
