I'm fairly positive that I'm the best Dr. Mario player on the planet - Two Plus Two Poker Forum
And I'm talking about the original on NES.
I've never found someone who can consistently beat me.
In college, I was in a few dr mario facebook groups, and people would always challenge me...
They'd come over to the dorms with their posses talkin ****, and I would just rape em.
Honestly, when people watch me play, they just sit there with their jaws dropped like "how the hell does he move the pieces that fast?" I drop on my opponent non-stop.
If anyone lives near Ohio, and wants to come over and try your luck, I'd put a lot of money on it.

I used to think i was the best dr mario player until i met this girl (yes a girl).
I will bet any amount of $$ on this.
(Any amount that i have and can put up, obv)
i am in maryland..
So this could possibly be doable if we bet enough money to make it worth it.
Is there any way to play each other online?

I have heard this many many times, similar to the way every male thinks they are awesome at poker and sex.
since OP and the mysterious girl's agent are here on 2p2 I'll give you some credit for understanding what skill really is.
however I will say this:
it's not likely that the best player plays on original NES, because the hardware itself limits number of controller inputs per unit time, meaning it isn't that hard to play as fast as possible on NES.
For example, you see decent players often lose head to head matches by having their board filled after just 1 or 2 doubles put them in a bad spot playing on 20 HI on original NES.
This is very rare on SNES / 64 for good players.
Also, there are a lot of people who are all about the same on single player mode, playing a very clean game, getting a fair amount of doubles, and clearing somewhat quickly.
However, when playing head to head small edges become very significant especially with trash to deal with.
i will leave you with a question.
Suppose you are playing heads up against a strong human player and get to this board.
think about how you would play the following pieces assuming no trash as they came:

BB
YR
RR
BY
YR
RB
the questions are:
1.
How many viruses do you kill?
2.
How many trash pieces do you drop?
3.
How many non-virus pill segments are on the board after the last piece?

I used to think I was a strong Dr.
Mario player. Then I played online.
I don't think anyone should be talking trash until they've played it against the freaks on the wii.
The gameplay is the same as the nes, but of course the graphics are smoother.
Online ratings start at 5000 and the highest rated players are in the mid 7s.
Having never met anyone better than me locally, even though I did play with a group of nerds in university, I am only around 5800.
I don't think I would issue an open challenge for money unless I was in the high 6s.
OP and super chick should both try it out and report back with their ratings after a few hundred games.

Oh wow, i looked at some screenshots of the wii online version and you can see the next 3 pieces, this is awesome.
If i was still smoking pot every waking moment would definately invest in this stat.

I didnt even know there was a wii version..
But me an op are talking about original NES , with original NES controllers.
Anything else would be way out of our normal scope of play and would require a long time to get as good as them.., so no point in that.
anyways i doubt this will ever go down because of the geography difference...
But if for whatever reason you find yourself in or around Washington DC, we could set this up, maybe just for like $100 bucks or something cool.

Just for some fyi...
I am sick at video games.
Ive been playing since I was about 5 on NES (21 years), am easily the best person i have ever seen online at COD4 , etc etc.
Im sick at every videogame ive ever played..
But am the best at 1st person shooters.
I was pretty sick at dr mario but it def wasnt my best game ever.
Anyawys i have NEVER seen a girl that is even comparable to me in ANY video game..
Not even close. This girl is crazy as **** , (was) an oxycontin addict and she loves , loves dr mario.
She's hot too....
Anyways she SCHOOLS me in dr mario..
I mean it is not even close.
Not to mention she makes me play on a low level (i dont remember which) and she plays on TWENTY..
And STILL ****S ME UP every time.
I have only beat her in ONE game..
Out of maybe 1000 tries, and i think we were on ecstasy..
But i constantly try..
I am convinced i will eventually get better than her..
(lol). I have never lost to anyone at ANY videogame like i lose to this girl in dr mario, so it is hard for me to accept defeat.
If comparable to a chess game, you know how they rate people by 'how many moves you think ahead', i would literally rate her a 10-step ahead player.
If i had 30 seconds for every placement of pill, i still wouldnt rival her insight into this game.
I mean the things she does are ****ing SICKKKK.
Anyways im not saying you are not a viable opponent..
You are probably really good too.
But seriously i have played a LOT of videogames in my day and i have never, never seen soemone so good at a game as this girl is at dr mario...
I also havent talked to her in a long ass time because shes a decietful evil chick ..
We used to be really tight but not any more...
But i will text her and let her know there is someone in ohio that thinks they are the best at dr mario and she'll def get a laugh out of it...
I never travel to ohio but if youre ever in the maryland/va/dc area we could make a day out of it
