McCain-Obama thingy... - ebassist dot com

Watching MSNBC tonight, and the host was really, really intent on forcing someone to agree that McCain MUST have a comment concerning the Obamanation book.

From what I have heard, the book is fully documented and the facts can be checked for accuracy, but the Obama camp is attacking the messenger, not the message.

The book is "full of lies" that can easily be checked because the author gives you his sources.

According to two of the panel, McCain should have acted swiftly to distance himself from the author, a person with no ties to McCain.

Distancing himself would have been the proper thing to do...a la Obama and his minister...a la Obama and his second minister...I really don't remember these same guys criticizing Obama for being lax in the distancing department. So...why should McCain have a comment about a book that he did not write and probably did not even read?

Why MUST a candidate have a comment about every minuscule facet of the other candidates life?

Should candidates now respond and react to every political cartoon that is published about their opponent? Is the American public that shallow?

Is the American public that shallow?

Yes. But it's just not the Mericans, every country is filled with shallow fucking stupid people who eat up "stories," aka nothing of value.

People don't care about values, facts or reality, they just want to be entertained.

NEVER EVER put faith in the public because most of them are fucking idiots.

Except the book apparently is riddled with baseless innuendo that insinuates various idiotic things such as Obama has ties to radical islam, has never publicly admitted that he has not done drugs since his early college years and thus may still be using drugs and other tripe. The author is a total scumbag who has found a way to teeter on teh edge of slander just long enough to spook idiots that will believe anything they read in a book.

He has no qualms about baseless accusation and innuendo as long as it serves his political interests.

If I were McCain, and I'm not, I would not want my name or my campaign even remotely associated with an dishonest scumbag character assassin like that.

...dishonest scumbag character assassin....

Isn't that the American way of politics?

Except that candidates usually do that to each other.

Obama was rebuked by Newsweek for his political ad blaming several thousand lost jobs in Ohio on McCain.

But, do we expect Obama to distance himself from his ad campaigns when they are blatantly false?

No, not really. So, why would anyone expect McCain to distance himself from the author of a book? I guess that you had to actually see it, but the "host" was really pushing his panel members to agree with him...how it was a political faux pas for McCain to not comment on it.

One panelist agreed, but the other would not.

He really harassed that panelist...simply because a politician did not react to a book. And, Doc, "apparently" you heard from a completely different source than I heard from.

I have not read the book and probably will not.

But I heard that it was factual, with citations given throughout...citations that are easily checked and proven true or false.

I don't know how a guy could write lies with citations. *I sound like a McCain supporter.

Sorry. I cannot support either of these two.*

Hillary lover! I don't support either and I'm no Hillary fan.

It's going to be a write in... ...for Ted Nugent.

Politics are won and lose on 30 seconds of commercial time....its sad to say, but true

I don't know how a guy could write lies with citations. like this.... ezstep is obviously a hard-core republican sympathizer and possible neo-nazi, as evidenced by his prior attacks on the character of Barak Obama cit.

But that's kinda the point.

McCain has never even remotely associated himself with this guy AFAIK.

The only ones doing that are the media. He has nothing to do with this guy.

I'm still seriously considering Christopher Walken http://www.walken2008.com/ Damn I wish that were real.

Http://ebassist.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20962 Vern...is that you? Thanks, Mike.

From everything I have seen and heard, McCain has nothing to do with the book, the author, his family, etc.

But this "news" show host was struggling to get his entire panel to agree that McCain must somehow be endorsing the book by not condemning it.

And I was thinking "WTF?

How does one (an adult) arrive at that conclusion?" Why not spend time attacking the book instead of condemning a non-reader of that book?

Why not condemn Obama for not distancing himself from his campaign ads that Newsweek have reported to be false?

Everyone around here complains that Fox is slanted...but this was MSNBC...and it was slanted to the extreme. I know, I know...we will go the polls again (for the fourth straight election) to vote AGAINST someone rather than to vote FOR someone else.

We are going to elect the president that the news media has selected. What a waste.

As long as Obama has already distanced himself from Vietman Veterans Against John McCain (i.e.

Swiftboat II), it all seems fair to me.

The book is a load of shit.

The first 7 citations in the book are from Coesi's own blog... Even basic facts weren't checked, or researched at all---not that it will matter to those stupid enough to buy it: Quote: : “The year 1995 was a banner one for Obama.

He had just married Michelle and the couple bought a Hyde Park condo, the first home Obama ever owned.”[p 145] REALITY: OBAMAS MARRIED IN 1992 AND BOUGHT A CONDO IN 1993 10/3/92 Obama And Michelle Robinson Were Married.

[Chicago Sun-Times, 10/3/07] 1993 Obama Bought a Condo for $277,550.

[Chicago Sun-Times, 1/22/06] etc, etc...

As long as Obama loses, I don't care what they say about him. C7

I had not seen that first compilation.

He makes W. look like a professional orator.

Where is the same outcry from those who complain about W.'s public flubbing of speeches?

<insert whatever rootsy / folksy excuse and rationalization the chimp supporters used for the last 8 years here>

...that would be "I haven't had much sleep in 48 hours." That answer supposedly allows any number of flubs without repercussion.

Well, except for those who are actually paying attention to his words.

You are not outraged by all the miscues, misinformation and lies? Puhshaw!

Can we say double standard?
