Your National shave set up - Badger & Blade

Hello all, Just for fun. All countries have a National Costume, National Anthem, Flower and Dish that everyone identifies as belonging to that Country.

So if they all had a National shave set-up, what would yours be? To make it fair you can chose one 'wildcard' item from another Country .

. . but it should be from the same continent. My English entry would be: Truefitt & Hill Luxury Soap Kent BK4 Gillette Flare-tip Rocket Wilkinson Sword Blade (older ones) D R Harris Pink Aftershave Trumper's Lime Skinfood Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet.

Well, as far as I know there are no Dutch-made razors or blades. For the creams, soaps, accessories etc.

I would choose the stuff from De Vergulde Hand.

Good quality, cheap, available everywhere, established in the sixteenth century.

In France : Martin de Candre, Roger & Gallet (soap) Plisson, Gerson (brush) Rasoline (brushless cream) Gibbs, Manufrance (old razor and blades) Joris (razor) Thiers Issard (straight) Guerlain, Chanel, Creed and more (fragance) These are just a few examples.

It would seem the American set up is what I'm moving away from, so I'll just say "God Bless the USA" and continue to use my German razor, Israeli blades, English soap and brush, Italian a/s, um, let's see, French cologne...

MWF Soap Simpson CH1 In Best Vintage Wilkinson Blade British Tech T&H 1805 Aftershave T&H 1805 Cologne

From the USA: HBS soap Vintage Gillette razor NOS Gillette Platinum-Plus blades. Ever Ready Pure Badger brush (Set in rubber!) Aqua Velva Ice Balm. Too bad that 3 of the 5 are out of production. -- John Gehman

And I'll say "God Bless" SCS, Mama Bear, QED, Gillette, Schick, Bill Ellis, and Georgetown Pottery...to name a few.

For Canada Razor: Gillette 1932 Tech Blade: What you will (nobody makes them here) Shaving Cream: J M Fraser's Aftershave: Booster Bay Rum An essentially Canadian setup;

Pleasant, reliable and a little prosaic, just like us. Best Regards Graham

USA: 40's SuperSpeed - ASR Personna QED Sandalwood C&E BBB Aqua Velva

Best Regards Graham Well, I know of no Canadian brushmaker or straight razor maker, so in honour of The Two Solitudes, I'll go with an English brush and a French razor. The JM Frasers and Booster is classic Canadiana, but I'm thinking I might swap A/S for some Aqua Velva Original Sport ...

It's almost American (Classic Blue AV) but a bit different, a bit better, and not available in the US ...

How symbolic!

How symbolic! I have a vintage Rubberset best badger brush that was made in Canada, and a Greaves 6/8th wedge called The Canadian Razor.

I haven't been able to get a decent edge on it thus far, but sooner or later ...! In the meantime, I'll pick up a small bottle of the AV Original Sport and give it a try. Best Regards Graham

Razor: Merkur Progress Brush: Erbe Blade: - (have to be imported) Shaving Soap: Tabac Aftershave: Speick Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik Straight: Dovo, Wacker
