NFL preview - AFC - Bang The Boards! on MySportsRadio
Hi all!
In the spirit of previews I've been looking a bit ahead - and this is my preview of the AFC in the '08 season!
NFC is coming soon to a board near you!
AFC East
New England Patriots 16-0
New York Jets 7-9
Buffalo Bills 6-10
Miami Dolphins 3-13
It's hard to believe in another perfect season for NE - but with the schedule they have...
The only threat seems to be Chargers and/or Colts.
AFC North
Cleveland Browns 13-3
Pittsburgh Steeleres 7-9
Baltimore Ravens 3-13
Cincinatti Bengals 3-13
This is the season for Cleveland!
They'll never get a better schedule - and their opponents will never get a harder schedule.
Steelers might surprise - but Ravens and Bengals seems to be locked in the bottom (sorry TimInOhio...).

AFC South
Jacksonville Jaguars 13-3
Indianapolis Colts 13-3
Tennessee Titans 7-9
Houston Texans 6-10
Killer division!
Jaguars and Colts with fairly easy shcedule's will fight for 1.
Place - but both seems sure playoff-teams.
Houston was on the right path last year, but with this years schedule it's hard for me to imagine them getting more than 6-8 wins.
AFC West
San Diego Chargers 14-2
Oakland Raiders 6-10
Denver Broncos 6-10
Kansas City Chiefs 5-11
Chargers are certain winners here.
Raiders, Broncos and Chiefs are all fighting for 2.
Place - it all comes down to which team benefits more from their draft.
Chiefs had a really good draft, but also a fairly tough schedule (Patriots, Chargers).
Well, that's it for now.
NFC will be coming your way soon...and I think I can guarantee some discussions about that!
Until then...let's hear what you think about the preview for the AFC...looking forward to some serious banging!

I don't think that the Patriots will go undefeated again, In fact, if they do I will cut off my nut sack.
(oh god..) They lost some people and the teams around them got a bit better.
I Don't see Cinn doing great this year, but i do think that they will be at least .500, how much more depends on team chemistry.
The chargers will win the west (as they have for a while) but I don't know that they will win it by that much..
The south is easily the best division in football.
(just a few years ago that was the NFC south

) I think you are underestimating Alge Crumpler's impact on the Titans.
I see their offense being a bit better, a bit more together if you know what I mean, and Fisher ALWAYS puts a tough defense on the field.
I see them competing to get into the playoffs, albeit a wild card spot.
Your take on the NFC is what I'm REALLY waiting for.
That I can debate with more emotion

With the AFC East I see no problem with the way you have it ending but N.E.
Will not go undefeated again.
This may sound like a homer pick but Pittsburgh is not going 7-9 even with the schedule and Cleveland is not 13-3.
I have Pittsburgh going 10-6 and Cleveland going 9-7.
AFC South you have that dead on.
In the West I could see San Diego trying to run the table these guys are prime for a run.
When it comes down to it the top five teams in the AFC are in this order IMO.
N.E., S.D., JAX, INDI, and Pittsburgh.

There is NO WAY that Pittsburgh is gonna go 7-9!
Just because we have the hardest schedule doesn't mean we aren't gonna get to the playoffs.
I see us finishing around 10-6 and the BROWNS ARE NOT WINNING THE DIVISION!!!
I see the Browns finishing 7-9.
This has always been between Pittsburgh and Cleavland but I see Pittsburgh winning the division and getting to the playoffs.
I don't think the Browns are getting to the playoffs.
The rest of the AFC I agree with you.

Sorry sweetheart but believe the hype the Browns will be over 500 I'm saying 9-7.
This is a good team please dont sleep on them.
But as I said the Steelers are the team to beat in this division and if we can get 3 wins inside that 5 game horror stretch we have we may win 11 or 12.
We are going into this season very underated just the way I like it.

And I must stress, that this is only a preview - some predictions for winners and losers in each game - and I will get some right and some wrong.
But a you point out....
IF you can get 3 wins out of 5...10-6 is a plausible record
IF you lose 'em all...7-9 is just as plausible
I don't think the Steelers have done enough to change their offense - and the other teams might be on to them.
Yes, Willie Parker had a lot of rushing yards last year...but he also had the 2.
Most carries. He's lowest in YPC amongst the top 5 rushers last year.
And I just don't se Roethlisberger having another great season, and he's the Steelers...

9-7, this season with that schedule, is enough to win the division.

I think the Brownies could be that team this year that should be good but doesn't get it done.
I want the Browns to win the division but they're not going to sneak up on anyone this year and I'm not sold on the defense.
I also don' know if Jamal Lewis has the legs to carry the load all season.
Do they have another back to share the carries?
I didn't do any research before I started spouting away.

It could be - but I would still put my money on Browns this year.
They have a great team and an easier schedule.
And with Rodgers and Stallworth added to the team this year (+ Winslow as TE) they'll be AWESOME!

They had 7 wins last year when they had were putting safeties in at Linebacker because they had so many injuries.
They also suffered from injuries at Runningback.
They get a new DC and FA Odom, and draft Rivers, and you think they'll win 4 less?
I'm not expecting non-fans to be high on them right now.
A lot of the positive news has been under the radar.
But 3-13?
I appreciate the apology in your post though, it made me laugh...
