Spell Check of Multiple fields in an applet - ITtoolbox Groups
Hi Gurus,
I hav a requirement of Spell checking of multiple fields in an applet.
For Multiple fields we need to add seperate spell check buttons.
But in the applet user property:
Name is:Check Spelling Field
Value is:the field in which I want to implement the spell checking.
How I can add multiple fields in the value field.
Suppose I want to implement spell check for 2 text fields:
1)Job Title
2)Comments
Then how these 2 fields can we put in the Value field for the User property "Check Spelling Field".
We are unable to create User property in this way.
1) "Check Spelling Field1".
2)"Check Spelling Field2".
I am able to check the spell for one field. It works successfully.
But I am unable to check spell for multiple fields for an applet.

Hi, I found the below doc in the siebel support web..hope this might be of help..
Product Release: V7 (Enterprise)
Version: 7.8.2 [19213]
Database: Oracle 10g
Application Server OS: Microsoft Windows 2003 Server SP1
Database Server OS: Microsoft Windows 2003 Server SP1
This document was previously published as Siebel SR 38-3029749251.
Symptoms
Hi,
In SR 38-889363056, it mentions a change request that will update the documentation to describe how to allow for spell checking on multiple fields on the same applet by creating multiple spell check buttons.
Can you please describe the necessary steps to do this?
As of the latest v7.8 bookshelf documenation, it doesn't contain this info yet.
Thanks.
Change Request #12-EPXNCI is a documentation enhancement for the Bookshelf >
Tools Reference Guide's steps on setting up Spell Check.
It refers to the user property in one place as "Check Spelling Field" and another place as "Check Spelling", and it requests the addition of the necessary steps to configure spell check on multiple fields by using individual buttons for each field on the same applet.
Solution
Message 1
For the benefit of other readers:
Description:
Customer wanted additional information of how to allow for spell checking on multiple fields on the same applet by creating multiple spell check button based on the SR# 38-889363056.
Resolution:
In the Change Request #12-B81MKC there are two possible workarounds:
1.
Implement spell check for each field by creating button for each required field.
For example, for your Customer Profile information that may contains 4 critical fields that are needed for spell checking, create 4 buttons for each field.
Click on each field to trigger spell checking for the clicked field.
You may also want to streamline the number of fields that importantly needed for spell checking as too many buttons may caused the applet and view to look clustered.
2.
Use Microsoft Word as the text editor and then copy/paste the information into Siebel that is implemented by you at the moment

I'm not sure it can be done which is the reason nobody has responded to you.
The requirementgoes against what a good SFA/CRM system is supposed to do.
1. Simplify and speed data entry.
2. Provide codifieddata that can be tracked and measured.
If you are having to spell check multiple fields on the sameview, then you are not using codified data and are allowing users a lot of free text.
What is the use case for having so many fields that require the user to type in data?
Although I have not tested it, there are several IE spell checkers available out there...you might try connecting one of those and see if that does not work for a whole page of spell checking.
You might also consider Adobe Forms integration which might offer you what you are looking for.
